01-14-23 | Maple Leafs v. Bruins -145 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This is going to be a great game between two of the league's best teams. The Maple Leafs look to win on the road but the Bruins look to step up and control this game on both ends of the ice. The Bruins, who average 3.76 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Bruins, who allow only 2.15 goals per game, should limit the Maple Leafs' offense with Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Carlo, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting passing lanes to force direct shots on the net, allowing goaltender Linus Ullmark to make plenty of big saves. The Bruins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |

01-14-23 | Flames v. Stars -111 | 6-5 | Loss | -111 | 1 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Calgary Flames are playing the fourth game of a five-game road trek. They have only won eight of their 22 road games on the season. Dallas is stellar at home where they are 12-4-3 on the year. They will be eager to hit the ice after they allowed the Rangers to force overtime with one second remaining in the 3rd period in Thursday's loss. The Stars remember last year’s playoff. This is the first meeting between these rivals since last year’s opening round where the Flames eliminated Dallas in seven games. I expect the Stars to have extra motivation to win this one. Dallas continues to excel, posting a 6-2-1 record in their last nine games, and have won five out of their last six home bouts. |
01-10-23 | Panthers v. Avalanche -126 | 5-4 | Loss | -126 | 12 h 14 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Panthers have been inconsistent all season. They are 3-6 in the last nine games overall and 1-4 in the last five outings on the road. The Panthers own a lot of dangerous offensive weapons, but their defense is far away from an elite level. Also, the Panthers are tallying 11.9 penalty minutes per game, enough for the third-most in the NHL. On the other side, the Avs have defended well for most of the season, but they’ve yielded 25 goals over their last six outings. After holding the Oilers’ mighty offense to just two goals, the Avs will be fired up to stay on the right track, and their offense will have a nice opportunity to improve in a favorable matchup against Florida. Hereof, I’m going with the reigning champs, who have won 14 of their last 20 home games against the Eastern Conference. |
01-10-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Sabres -110 | 4-3 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 53 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Sabres have won eight of their last nine games and four of their last five home games. They have one of the best offenses in the league and they’re playing very well at the moment, scoring at least four goals in seven of their last nine games. They are also very good on special teams, converting 29 percent of their power play opportunities, and they’re facing a Seattle team that is one of the worst in the league at killing penalties and is giving up more than three goals per game, so expect them to play well offensively in this game. The Kraken have won four straight games, but they split their last six road games. They have played well offensively and play just as well on the road. They aren’t as good as the Sabres on special teams, converting 21 percent of their power play opportunities. The Sabres aren’t great defensively, but they’ve done a good job killing penalties and played good defense in recent home games, giving up eight goals in their last three home games, so expect them to keep Seattle’s offense in check. |
01-10-23 | Canucks v. Penguins -175 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 50 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canucks have lost four of their last five games and three of their last four road games. They usually play well offensively, but they’re struggling at the moment, scoring 14 goals in their last five games. They have played well on special teams, converting over 24 percent of their power play opportunities. Unfortunately for them, the Penguins are great at killing penalties and they play well defensively at home, holding opponents under three goals per game, so expect them to keep Vancouver’s offense in check. The Penguins have also struggled in recent games, but they’ve played well at home where they have won six of their last nine games. They continue to play well offensively, scoring more than three goals per game at home. They have also played well on special teams, converting more than 20 percent of their power play opportunities. The Canucks are terrible at killing penalties and they have struggled defensively on the road, giving up more than 3.5 goals per game, so expect them to have a hard time slowing down the Penguins in this game. Go with Pittsburgh to cover the puck line. |
01-10-23 | Devils v. Hurricanes -145 | 5-3 | Loss | -145 | 10 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This one, essentially, is a clash between the two best teams in the Metropolitan Division at the moment. The edge, though, firmly lies with the Hurricanes here! The Devils arguably carry the best road record in the whole league (14-2-1), but have been so inconsistent lately that they have failed to follow up a victory with another win on the past four occasions, going with just four triumphs in their previous 14 matchups overall. New Jersey has also failed to beat the ‘Canes in any of their last five head-to-head clashes, losing each of its most recent four trips to North Carolina. The Hurricanes, meanwhile, have posted a whopping 42 victories in their past 57 domestic outings, going 9-2 in their previous 11 games against teams from the Eastern Conference. |
01-09-23 | Flyers v. Sabres -200 | 4-0 | Loss | -200 | 8 h 9 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The rebuilding Philadelphia Flyers are far from a finished product. Following a promising four-game winning streak, their best since a 3-0-0 start, the Flyers were thumped 6-2 by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. There won't be much time to dwell on the loss as Philadelphia will travel to Western New York to face the host Buffalo Sabres today. Travis Konecny scored his team-leading 21st goal and Nicolas Deslauriers also scored against Toronto. Konecny has registered points in eight consecutive games and has scored at least one goal in a career-high six straight games. But there wasn't much positive news otherwise. Too many costly turnovers proved to be the difference in the frustrating loss. The Sabres will look for their third consecutive win when they battle the Flyers. After a 5-4 overtime victory over the Washington Capitals, the Sabres followed with a stirring 6-5 overtime win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. |
01-06-23 | Coyotes +110 v. Blackhawks | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 33 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both teams have looked awful this season but I like the Coyotes to step up and control this game against a Blackhawks team that has lost their last five games. The Coyotes should find the back of the net at will against a Blackhawks defense that allows 3.76 goals per game with Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Coyotes should also eliminate a Blackhawks offense that has only scored five goals in their last five games with Jakob Chychrun, Shayne Gostisbehere, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Ingram to make plenty of big saves. The Coyotes should win the game and provide great odds in the process as road Underdogs. |
01-06-23 | Predators v. Capitals -158 | 3-2 | Loss | -158 | 7 h 0 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Credit where credit’s due - the Predators have been going strong lately, posting a 5-1-2 record in their past eight contests after losing six matchups on the trot prior (0-4-2). They have, however, managed to win just three of their previous eight road outings and are a disappointing 2-7 in their most recent nine fixtures played without a breather. The Capitals, on the other hand, have already triumphed in seven of their last 10 domestic games and will be facing off against a Nashville team they have already beaten on the very last three occasions, outscoring it 12-4. |
01-03-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Oilers -150 | 5-2 | Loss | -150 | 12 h 55 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Oilers have had a torrid time while skating on own ice since mid-December, going with four consecutive defeats at Rogers Place. That trend, however, is bound to change sooner rather than later. Especially with the Oilers hosting a team that is yet to win a single contest in Edmonton. The Kraken have paid three previous visits to Rogers Place (one - during the last regular campaign, two - in pre-season), losing all of them with a combined score of 16-5. Seattle has also managed to beat the Oilers just once in their past four regular-season meetings and has recorded just a single victory in its previous five road outings. Edmonton, meanwhile, is a solid 5-0 in the most recent five fixtures after scoring no more than two strikes in its previous game. |
01-03-23 | Flames v. Jets +124 | 2-3 | Win | 124 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Connor Hellebuyck's value to the Winnipeg Jets has been obvious for years, but they received a huge reminder the past few weeks as they head into Tuesday's home game with the Calgary Flames on a bit of a roll. Amidst a difficult wave of injuries, the Jets struggled through half of December but finished the month with a pair of victories, the latest a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on New Year's Eve. In that outing, Hellebuyck -- who won the Vezina Trophy for the league's top goalie in the 2019-20 season -- sparkled while making 31 saves. The Jets were outshot 32-17, killed all five penalties and snapped the point-scoring streak of the league's leading scorer, Connor McDavid, at 17 games. Consider that the Flames are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Winnipeg. |
01-03-23 | Hurricanes -123 v. Rangers | 3-5 | Loss | -123 | 10 h 58 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Rangers are looking to win on their home ice the Hurricanes, who have won 11 games in a row, look to control this game from the first period. The Hurricanes, who have scored nine goals in the last two games, should pile on the goals with Sebastian Aho, Martin Necas, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Hurricanes, who allow only 2.54 goals per game, should also limit the Rangers' offense with Brady Skjei, Brett Pesce, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to make plenty of big saves. The Hurricanes should win the game with a strong performance on the road to win their 12th game in a row. |
01-03-23 | Sabres v. Capitals -155 | 5-4 | Loss | -155 | 8 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units After rolling through the month of December, the Washington Capitals will try to keep it going in January when they host the Buffalo Sabres. The Capitals closed out 2022 with a 9-2 throttling of the Montreal Canadiens on New Year's Eve, finishing the month with an 11-2-2 record in 15 games. Conor Sheary is one of those players who have stepped up. His 11 goals are second on the team after Alex Ovechkin (26), while his 26 points rank fourth among all Capitals. Sheary finished December with 15 points (four goals, 11 assists), third-most for the month on the team behind Ovechkin (22) and Evgeny Kuznetsov (17). Consider that the Sabres are 25-60 in their last 85 vs. a team with a winning record. |
01-02-23 | Penguins v. Bruins -165 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Penguins look to pull off the upset but the Bruins have looked phenomenal this year and look to step up and control this game. The Bruins, who average 3.78 goals per game, should pile on the goals with David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement and strong centering passes. The Bruins, who allow only 2.19 goals per game, should also limit the Penguins' offense with Hampus Lindholm, Connor Clifton, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Linus Ullmark to make plenty of big saves. The Bruins should win the game with a remarkable performance at Fenway Park. |
12-30-22 | Devils v. Penguins -110 | 4-2 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Devils look to snap out of their slump but the Penguins look to bounce back on their home ice and control this game. The Penguins look to build off a four-goal game and pile on the goals with Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Penguins should also limit a Devils offense that has only scored four goals in their last two games with Marcus Pettersson, Pierre-Oliver Joseph, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers at the blue line and limiting shots on the net while goaltender Tristan Jarry steps up and blanks the shots on the net. The Penguins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
12-29-22 | Stars +108 v. Wild | 4-1 | Win | 108 | 7 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Dallas is playing well above average at both ends of the ice as the Stars are fifth in scoring at 10th in goals-against. Dallas has the 5th best power play and the Stars have the fourth-best penalty-kill unit. Dallas is also third-best in faceoffs, winning 55.2% of the time. Dallas has won five of its last 7 overall and the Stars have won four of the last five played on the road. Dallas arrives in this matchup against Minnesota having won two straight, 3 of the last 4 and seven of the last 10. Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger has a 2.43 goals against average and over the last five games in net, has allowed an average of just 2.35 goals per game. Six of the 18 goals Oettinger has given up over that span were in just one game versus Edmonton. |
12-29-22 | Red Wings v. Sabres -159 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 35 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units There's a lot of unpredictability surrounding the Sabres as they haven't played in 10 days. However, I like them as a well-rested team to step up on their home ice and take over this game. The Sabres, who average 3.94 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement and passes near the net. The Sabres should also limit the Red Wings' offense with Rasmus Dahlin, Mattias Samuelsson, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Craig Anderson to step up and make plenty of big saves in the net. The Sabres should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice. |
12-29-22 | Senators v. Capitals -169 | 4-3 | Loss | -169 | 8 h 33 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators have looked promising this season and can easily pull off the upset and provide great odds in the process. The problem is the Capitals look like one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and look to control this game from the first period. The Capitals, who average 3.11 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with effective passes. The Capitals, who allow only 2.70 goals per game, should also limit the Senators' offense with Nick Jensen, Dmitry Orlov, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Darcy Kuemper to make plenty of big saves. The Capitals should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice to win their sixth game in a row. |
12-28-22 | Flames v. Seattle Kraken +103 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 51 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Flames will have to deal with fatigue after a tough battle against Edmonton. They’ve only won one of their last six games played on the second night of a back-to-back. On the other side, the Kraken will be well-rested and ready to bounce back from a tough loss against Vancouver, so I’m going with Seattle to win. The Kraken’s defense hasn’t impressed at all, but their offense has been one of the best in the league in 2022-23. Seattle is 6-2 in its previous eight showings on the home ice and 6-1 in its last seven games against the Pacific Division. |
12-28-22 | Golden Knights -175 v. Ducks | 2-3 | Loss | -175 | 12 h 15 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Ducks are the 2nd worst team in the NHL at the moment behind the Chicago Blackhawks, having amassed just 22 points from 35 games, posting a measly .314 points percentage and a league-worst minus-63 goal differential. So, tonight presents a great opportunity for Vegas to win for the third time in its last four fixtures and get back on the winning column on the road, where the team has already snatched 12 triumphs on the most recent 15 trips. The Golden Knights have already beaten Anaheim in a whopping 21 of their previous 25 meetings, triumphing by a margin of at least two snipes on 13 occasions. The Ducks, meanwhile, have lost by more than one goal in 19 of their 26 defeats this season. |
12-27-22 | Sharks v. Canucks -138 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 13 h 32 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both San Jose and Vancouver have struggled to keep the puck out of their net so far this season. It’s tough to make the case for either side, though the Canucks seem a better offensive team than the Sharks. I’m backing the hosts to win only because they’ve dominated San Jose over the last few years. Vancouver is undefeated in seven straight meetings with San Jose including four encounters in 2022. The Canucks are 6-3 in their last nine games overall, while the Sharks have dropped ten of their previous 14 games at any location. San Jose is 1-4 in its last five showings on the road. |
12-27-22 | Wild v. Jets +108 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 35 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Winnipeg is hoping the holiday break cured an illness that was circulating through the team and had been hampering starting goalie Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck has been the Jets' MVP this season. In 25 starts, Hellebuyck has a 16-8-1 record, a .928 save percentage (second in the NHL), 761 saves (second) and a 2.36 goals-against average (fifth). Because of the NHL collective bargaining agreement rules, Minnesota will have to travel to Winnipeg on the day of the game. The Wild had won six in a row before losing 5-2 to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. In that matchup, the Wild were on the receiving end of a dominant performance by Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson, who had a goal and three assists. Consider that the Jets are 19-9 in their last 28 overall. |
12-27-22 | Bruins -185 v. Senators | 2-3 | Loss | -185 | 10 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins come in with four straight wins and well-rested. The Senators are also well-rested but have lost three straight games. This is the first of a back-to-back for Boston as they return to New Jersey on Wednesday night. The Bruins dropped their only game to Ottawa this season, 7-5, back in October. Jeremy Swayman got the start in net in that game and had his worst performance of the season, letting up six goals before being relieved by Ullmark. Both goalies are fresh and ready to go in this one. Swayman is 3-1 with a 2.38 goals against average in his last five starts and would certainly like a chance at redemption against the Senators. Boston's high scoring offense should be able to exploit Ottawa for 5+ goals again and I don't foresee the Bruins giving up anywhere near 7 goals in the rematch. |
12-23-22 | Flames -200 v. Ducks | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 13 h 2 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Ducks have only won four of their last 18 games overall. On the other side, the Flames are winless in five consecutive outings on the second night of a back-to-back, so something’s got to give in this matchup. Calgary will have to deal with fatigue, but the Flames are arguably a much better team than Anaheim. The Flames have dominated the Ducks over the last few years, winning six of their previous seven encounters. Four of Calgary’s last five victories over Anaheim have come by two or more goals. |
12-23-22 | Canucks v. Oilers -196 | 5-2 | Loss | -196 | 12 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canucks have looked promising and look to pull off the upset and provide great odds in the process. The problem is that they face an Oilers team that is coming off a dominant win and looks to control this game on both ends of the ice. The Oilers, who average 3.65 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Oilers should also limit the Canucks offense with Darnell Nurse, Cody Ceci, and the rest of the defensive unit stepping up at the blue line and cutting off angles to the net on the rush while goaltender Stuart Skinner makes plenty of big saves in the net. |
12-23-22 | Panthers -116 v. Islanders | 1-5 | Loss | -116 | 9 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Well rested, with no shortage of determination to enter the Christmas break on a positive note and having already beaten the Islanders in their most recent five head-to-head clashes, the Panthers look more than promising ahead of their trip to Long Island. They have triumphed in just two of their past seven matchups, but have still split their last six travels and have been largely impressive when facing off against teams from the Metropolitan Division, winning on 24 of the past 33 occasions. The most recent record of the Islanders when playing the second part of their back-to-backs is a decent one (4-1). Still, New York has managed to bank just three victories in its previous 11 fixtures overall, winning just twice in its last 11 encounters against the Atlantic Division. Besides, the prospect of the Isles going with Cory Schneider, a goalie that has started just a single NHL game since the beginning of the 2021-22 season, definitely plays into the hands of the Cats. |
12-22-22 | Wild -160 v. Sharks | 2-5 | Loss | -160 | 12 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Filip Gustavsson has emerged victorious in six straight starts. Minnesota is undefeated in six straight showings on the second night of a back-to-back, so I’m not going to overthink this game. Of course, the Sharks are capable of beating the Wild. They’ve already done it this season, but the Sharks’ defense has been awful as of late. San Jose has only won three of its previous 13 games overall. Over their last six defeats, the Sharks have surrendered a thumping 31 goals. They are 2-5 in the last seven meetings with the Wild, who have recorded 11 wins in 14 games before Wednesday’s battle against Anaheim. |
12-22-22 | Islanders v. Rangers -152 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 6 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The New York Rangers are tough in goal, as Igor Shesterkin has a 2.42 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. Overall this season the Rangers are allowing an average of only 2.71 goals per game and New York is scoring an average of 3.24 goals per game. The Rangers have won seven of the last 8 overall and five of the last 6 when playing against a team with a winning record. The Islanders have lost four out of the last 5 and when playing on 2 days rest, the Islanders are 1-5 in the last six. The Rangers are 7-6-4 at home but have won each of the last three played on their home ice. The Islanders are 1-3 in their last four on the road. |
12-22-22 | Jets v. Bruins -230 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Since 2016, .600 to .700 NHL underdogs off a home win in the first half of the regular season are just 14-51 versus teams with a winning record, losing by an average margin of 1.3 goals. These teams are an even worse 8-37 as road underdogs, losing by an average of 1.6 goals, and 6-33 if their win at home was by two or more goals., losing by an average margin of 1.87 goals. Since 1997, NHL underdogs off 15 or more wins in their last 20 games are just 284-366 (43.7%) with limited rest over their previous four games, including 51-82 (38.3%) since 2020 and 35-57 (38%) since 2021. |
12-21-22 | Canadiens v. Avalanche -255 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 41 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Colorado has battled through a slew of injuries this season to push back into striking distance in the playoff picture in the Central Division race. The Avalanche will get Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Darren Helm and others aback on the ice in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, they are still having success as other guys step up and contribute on each end of the ice. Georgiev has been stellar between the pipes and that’s something that we haven’t seen from Montreal this season. Goaltending is something that can make or break you in the NHL, as we’ve seen repeatedly over the years. The Canadiens struggle in their own end, they are dismal with the man advantage and they have offensive issues. |
12-21-22 | Lightning -155 v. Red Wings | 4-7 | Loss | -155 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units In the Wings' first meeting with the Lightning, Ville Husso made 44 saves and they scored three third-period goals, including a pair of empty-netters. The matchup today will be the second of four between the Atlantic Division teams, but they won't face each other again until Feb. 25. Tampa Bay had a five-game winning streak halted at Toronto on Tuesday. The Lightning were outshot 40-19 in the 4-1 loss, although two of the goals they gave up were empty-netters. Vladislav Namestnikov scored the lone Lightning goal. During the winning streak, Tampa Bay outscored the opposition 24-7. The Bolts have snatched 11 victories on their past 14 visits to Motor City, winning the very last three. |
12-20-22 | Ducks v. Kings -257 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 49 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Ducks have been awful on both sides of the ice since the opening week. They’ve won two straight contests, but I highly doubt their chances to make it three in a row even though the Kings are far away from a solid defensive team. Los Angeles possesses a lot of offensive weapons and should deal with the Ducks’ struggling defense, so I’m backing the Kings to beat the puck line because the money line odds are not attractive at all. Anaheim has gone 3-7-2 over its last 12 games overall. Each of the Ducks’ last four losses has come by two or more goals. Also, they are 3-7 in the last ten games against the Kings and 1-11 in their previous 12 encounters with the Western Conference. |
12-20-22 | Senators v. Jets -124 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators are looking to rebound from a rough loss and pull off the upset in the upcoming game. The problem is that the Jets have looked like one of the best teams in the Western Conference and look to control this game from the opening puck drop. The Jets, who average 3.32 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net against a Senators defense that allows 3.16 goals per game with Kyle Connor, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with quick passes. The Jets, who allow only 2.58 goals per game, should also limit the Senators' offense with Josh Morrissey, Brenden Dillon, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to make plenty of big saves. The Jets should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice. |
12-20-22 | Blue Jackets v. Flyers -170 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both Columbus and Philadelphia are equally struggling at the moment, sitting bottom and 2nd-last in the Eastern Conference respectively. The Blue Jackets, though, will be heading to Philly on the second night of their current back-to-back set, having already dropped 18 of their previous 25 no-rest decisions. The Flyers, on the other hand, will be extra fresh, having last skated on Saturday and amassed an excellent 6-1 record in their most recent seven outings played on a two days’ rest. Even more crucially, three of the past four overall victories of Philadelphia have all been by more than one goal, while the Jackets have been beaten by a margin of at least two snipes in six of their previous seven defeats, with seven of the very last nine decisions of their Latvian goalie Elvis Merzlikins ending with a loss by more than one marker. |

12-19-22 | Islanders v. Avalanche -145 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This is going to be a great game between two of the better teams in the league. The Islanders look to pull off the upset but the Avalanche look to build off a recent win and control this game from the first period. The Avalanche, who average 3.03 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonen, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Avalanche, who allow only 2.76 goals per game, should also limit the Islanders' offense with Cale Makar, Devon Toews, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Alexandar Georgiev to make plenty of big saves. The Avalanche should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
12-19-22 | Stars -215 v. Blue Jackets | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 44 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Only two wins have come about for the Stars on their last 10 visits to Ohio. Still, we are talking about the 2nd-best team from the Western Conference visiting the worst side from the Eastern Conference. So, do expect Dallas to deal with the hosts here quite comfortably! The Stars, who have already beaten the Blue Jackets in four of their previous five overall encounters, have triumphed by more than one snipe in 15 of their 18 victories this season. Columbus, meanwhile, has been outplayed by a margin of at least two markers in a whopping 17 of its 20 setbacks during the ongoing campaign, including the very last six. |
12-19-22 | Red Wings v. Capitals -169 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Red Wings are looking to snap out of their losing streak and win the upcoming game on the road. The problem is that they face a Capitals team that has played great in the recent games and looks to overwhelm the Red Wings on both ends of the ice. The Capitals, who average 3.03 goals per game, should create plenty of scoring chances with Alexander Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement while John Carlson generates shots on the net from the blue line. The Capitals, who allow only 2.85 goals per game, should also limit the Red Wings, who have scored only 2.90 goals per game, with Nick Jensen, Trevor van Riemsdyk, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Charlie Lindgren to make plenty of big saves. The Capitals should win the game. |
12-19-22 | Panthers v. Bruins -180 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 8 h 38 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins will eventually lose at home...I think. The Bruins have dominated almost every major statistical category this season and come into this game very healthy. The Panthers will also likely get the misfortune of matching up with red-hot Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark. Ullmark is 17-1-1 on the season and owns a 1.83 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. Boston should take advantage of Florida's shaky special teams and put up goals on the power play and keep the Panther at bay on the penalty kill. It will be interesting to see how Boston controls the middle of the ice against the league leading team in shots on net, considering the Bruins are allowing the third lowest shots on net this season. |
12-18-22 | Rangers -211 v. Blackhawks | 7-1 | Win | 100 | 11 h 46 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Chicago’s Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are set to play their 1,000th NHL game together tonight, becoming the 11th pair of teammates to reach the milestone in history. Still, don’t expect the celebrations to hit unforeseen heights, as the Blackhawks are not in for a rare win against the in-form Rangers. New York, which has already snatched six victories on its last eight trips to the Windy City, is currently riding a season-long six-game winning run, having triumphed by more than one snipe in four of those fixtures. The Blackhawks, meanwhile, have managed to muster just a single victory in their previous 15 outings, losing by a margin of at least two markers in a whopping 12 of them. |
12-18-22 | Senators v. Wild -195 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 19 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators have won four games in a row and can easily win the upcoming game and provide great odds in the process as road Underdogs. The problem is that they face a Wild team that looks like one of the best in the Western Conference and looks to control this game from the opening puck drop. The Wild, who average 3.10 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Kirill Kaprizov, Mats Zuccarello, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes. The Wild, who allow only 2.87 goals per game, should also limit the Senators' offense with Jared Spurgeon, Jacob Middleton, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Filip Gustavsson to make plenty of easy saves. |
12-17-22 | Islanders v. Golden Knights -160 | 5-2 | Loss | -160 | 11 h 32 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Golden Knights are topping the Pacific Division and have the best record in the Western Conference. However, they’ve only won one of their previous five games at T-Mobile Arena, and the fans will demand a victory when the Islanders come to town. Vegas is arguably a better offensive team than the Islanders, who rank 22nd in the league in 5-on-5 high-danger scoring chances. The Golden Knights need to remain focused and disciplined, as they commit the fewest penalty minutes per game. The Islanders have to deal with fatigue on the second day of a back-to-back, so I’m going with Vegas to win even though Jack Eichel (G13, A16) is on injured reserve. |
12-17-22 | Predators v. Avalanche -160 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Predators are looking to snap out of their losing streak but the Avalanche look to bounce back from a rough loss and dominate this game on their home ice. The Avalanche, who average 3.04 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Mikko Rantanen, J.T. Compher, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes while Cale Makar and Devon Toews generate shots on the net from the blue line. Speaking of Makar and Toews, they should lead an Avalanche defense that is only allowing 2.82 goals per game and limit the Predators offense, which is scoring only 2.46 goals per game by creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Alexandar Georgiev to make plenty of big saves. The Avalanche should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice. |
12-17-22 | Sabres -168 v. Coyotes | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Coyotes are looking to win on their home ice but I like the Sabres to build off two strong wins and dominate this game on the road. The Sabres, who average 3.93 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes near the net. The Sabres should also limit a Coyotes offense that averages only 2.74 goals per game with Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the neutral zone and defensive zone while goaltender Craig Anderson steps up and blanks the shots on the net. The Sabres should win the game with a strong performance on the road to win their third game in a row. |
12-17-22 | Rangers -167 v. Flyers | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Even though the Flyers snapped a four-game slide on Thursday, beating the New Jersey Devils 2-1, it is quite difficult to look beyond the fact that Philadelphia was still outshot by a double (49-24), had a tremendous performance by its goalie Carter Hart and won largely because of a cross-ice pass go-wrong by New Jersey’s defenceman Damon Severson. Three wins in 19 games is a terrible statistic for the Flyers, who, based on just current form, are no match for the Rangers. New York is riding a five-game winning run, having triumphed by more than one snipe in three of those matchups, and is an excellent 5-0-1 in its most recent six meetings with Philadelphia, having beaten the Flyers by a margin of at least two tallies in three of those fixtures. |
12-15-22 | Sabres v. Avalanche -175 | 4-2 | Loss | -175 | 9 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Sabres boast the highest-scoring offense in the league, but their defense has been pretty much awful thus far. On the other side, the Avs haven’t impressed offensive-wise, and MacKinnon’s absence is a massive blow for the reigning champs, but their defense is doing a good job. Hereof, I’m expecting to see a tight battle between Buffalo and Colorado. The Avs would be my pick only because of their blue line. A couple of weeks ago, the Avalanche outshot the Sabres 33-28 in a 6-4 victory. MacKinnon scored two goals and had three assists. Colorado is undefeated in eight straight meetings with the Sabres, who have dropped 13 of their previous 19 games overall. |
12-15-22 | Blues v. Oilers -155 | 4-3 | Loss | -155 | 9 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Oilers are undoubtedly a much better offensive team than the Blues. Both Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are coming off strong performances, and I’m expecting more of the same when the Oilers square off against the Blues. Edmonton will be fired up to get revenge for a shutout home loss against St. Louis, while Stuart Skinner will aim for his second straight victory over the Blues. Skinner has gone 5-2-0 over his previous seven starts. The Oilers have scored 20 goals in their last four games and are 5-1 in their previous six showings on the home ice. The Blues, on the other side, are 2-4 in their last six outings on the road. |
12-14-22 | Canucks v. Flames -171 | 4-3 | Loss | -171 | 11 h 49 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Flames have lost their last three games, making it easy to think that the Canucks will pull off the upset and provide great odds in the process. However, with the Flames returning to their home ice, they look to step up and control this game from the opening puck drop. The Flames look to rebound after scoring only six goals in their last three games and pile on the goals with Nazem Kadri, Tyler Toffoli, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Flames also look to limit a Canucks offense that was shut out in their last game with Nikita Zadorov, MacKenzie Weegar, and the rest of the defensive unit stepping up and creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Jacob Markstrom to make plenty of big saves. The Flames should win the game with a much-needed bounce-back performance on their home ice. |
12-14-22 | Red Wings v. Wild -225 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The improvement the Red Wings have shown this season is undeniable. Still, the team has currently found itself in a bit of a slide, having registered just two victories in its past eight matchups, being on the verge of matching its season-worst run of four consecutive defeats. Playing on the second night of a back-to-back set, with the team having already dropped 40 of its last 59 no-rest decisions, does not help, nor does the loss of top-scorer Dylan Larkin to injury. Minnesota, meanwhile, is enjoying its hockey, with eight triumphs in its previous 11 games serving as a great indication of quality. Besides, the Wild have already beaten the Red Wings in five of their most recent six overall meetings, winning by more than two strikes in three of those fixtures. |
12-13-22 | Capitals v. Blackhawks +1.5 | 7-3 | Loss | -140 | 7 h 5 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Blackhawks are cognizant of the effort they're receiving from goaltender Arvid Soderblom, who made 29 saves against Winnipeg and consistently has kept the team competitive during its month-long malaise. "He's working his (butt) off in there and backdoor saves left and right," defenseman Seth Jones said. "We're obviously giving up too many chances. Your goalie's got to make timely saves for you, but you've got to do a little bit better job. "He's part of this team, and he's a guy that's never going to complain or show his emotion." Since winning their first two games against Eastern Conference foes this season, the Blackhawks have lost eight of nine. However, head to head, the home team is 13-4 in the last 17 meetings. |
12-13-22 | Golden Knights v. Jets -135 | 6-5 | Loss | -135 | 5 h 54 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Jets offense has stepped up but the defense has been dominant, allowing only 2.56 goals per game with only 12 goals in the last five games. Josh Morrissey and Nate Schmidt have combined for 4.1 defensive point shares and 78 blocked shots while Brenden Dillon, Neal Pionk, and Dylan DeMelo have combined for 4.2 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Moreover, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been great in the net with a .930 save percentage and a 2.33 goals-against average on 700 shots. |
12-13-22 | Stars v. Devils -145 | 4-1 | Loss | -145 | 8 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The offense has been great but the defense has also been phenomenal, allowing only 2.33 goals per game. Hamilton and Seigenthaler have combined for 4.8 defensive point shares and 71 blocked shots while John Marino, Ryan Graves, and Damon Severson have combined for 5.1 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Furthermore, backup goaltender Akira Schmidt has stepped up in the net with a .940 save percentage and a 1.70 goals-against average on 133 shots. |
12-13-22 | Kings v. Sabres -103 | 0-6 | Win | 100 | 5 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Kings look to rebound from a rough loss but I see the Sabres stepping up on their home ice and controlling this game. The Sabres, who average 3.86 goals per game, should pile on the goals against a Kings' defense that is allowing 3.61 goals per game with Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Sabres should also limit the Kings' offense with Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net while goaltender Craig Anderson blanks shots on the net. The Sabres should win the game with a much-needed bounce-back performance on their home ice. |
12-12-22 | Stars v. Penguins -121 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 1 h 44 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Penguins, who average 3.54 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and overwhelming the Stars' defense with speed and quick passes near the net. The Penguins, who allow only 2.96 goals per game, should also limit the Stars' offense with Jan Rutta, Jeff Petry, and the rest of the defensive unit stepping up and creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shooting lanes, allowing goaltender Tristan Jarry to make plenty of easy saves. The Penguins should win the game to win their sixth consecutive game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
12-11-22 | Capitals v. Jets -121 | 5-2 | Loss | -121 | 9 h 30 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Capitals are looking to extend their winning streak and pull off the upset on the road and provide great odds in the process. The problem is that they face one of the best teams in the Western Conference in the Jets that look to overwhelm them on both ends of the ice. The Jets, who average 3.35 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Kyle Connor, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Jets, who allow only 2.46 goals per game should also limit the Capitals' offense with Josh Morrissey, Neal Pionk, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to make plenty of big saves. The Jets should win the game to win their fifth game in a row with a strong performance on their home ice. |
12-10-22 | Senators v. Predators -129 | 3-2 | Loss | -129 | 4 h 21 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Nashville is currently 11th in the Western Conference with 26 points but only two points behind the current eighth-place team Minnesota. The Predators at home are 7-3-2. Ottawa is next to last in the Eastern Conference. The Senators have just 22 points and are far off the pace for one of the top eight places in the conference. Ottawa is 4-6-2 on the road this season. Ottawa has lost 14 of the last 20 overall and has lost 39 of the last 58 when playing an opponent from the Central division. Nashville dominates this matchup with the Predators winning each of the last seven played on their home ice against Ottawa and nine of the last 12 overall against the Senators. |
12-09-22 | Jets -135 v. Blackhawks | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 25 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Currently riding a six-game losing streak on own ice, the Blackhawks will be hoping to notch just their second victory in their past 12 outings. Facing off against the Jets, though, is an event Chicago will not be looking forward to. The ‘Hawks have already dropped six of their previous seven decisions against Winnipeg, being beaten by more than one tally in five of those games. A whopping 10 of the most recent 13 overall defeats of the Blackhawks have also been by a margin of at least two markers, while the Jets have triumphed by a goal-gap of at least three (!) snipes in each of their last five wins. |
12-09-22 | Flames v. Blue Jackets +1.5 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 50 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Consider that the Flames are 4-11 in their last 15 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game, 2-6 in their last 8 vs. Metropolitan, and 2-7 in their last 9 road games. While the Blue Jackets are 7-3 in their last 10 games following a home loss of 3 or more goals. |
12-09-22 | Penguins -144 v. Sabres | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 47 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently one of the hottest teams in the NHL. They are sporting a fantastic 8-1-1 record in their last 10 games and have won three bouts in a row, outscoring the opposition by eight goals in that three-game winning streak. The Sabres are an improved team and can score, but have only won six of their 15 home games on the season. The Penguins are dazzling in the offensive end, recording 14 goals in their last three games and rank fourth in the NHL with an xGF/60 minutes of 3.0 goals. Buffalo's top strength is the goal-scoring but only has an xGF/60 minutes of 2.71 goals at 5 on 5. Also, the Sabres allow a lot of goals, squandering 23 goals in their last five games. |
12-08-22 | Red Wings +1.5 v. Panthers | 1-5 | Loss | -145 | 9 h 10 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Panthers are facing two major issues: injuries among their forwards and uncertainty at goalie. Panthers coach Paul Maurice played Tuesday's game without four of his top nine forwards: captain Aleksander Barkov (non-COVID illness); Anton Lundell (upper-body injury); Anthony Duclair (foot); and Patric Hornqvist (upper body). Hornqvist and Duclair are on injured reserve, although the latter could return this month. Barkov and Lundell are day-to-day. Barkov (39) and Duclair (31) combined for 70 goals last season, and Lundell, 21, is a player on the rise with 22 goals in 89 NHL games. At goalie, Spencer Knight was pulled on Tuesday after allowing three goals on 15 shots. Sergei Bobrovsky, who opened the season as the starter, has struggled this season. He is 4-6-1 with a 3.84 goals-against average that is on pace to be the worst GAA of his 13-year career. Knight has been the better goalie this season, going 8-4-3 with a 2.64 GAA. But it remains to be seen if Knight getting pulled on Tuesday will open the door for a Bobrovsky start today. Meanwhile, the rebuilding Red Wings are much improved and will enter today on a two-game win streak. In fact, Detroit has won four straight road games. Overall this season, Detroit is 6-3-2 on the road. The Red Wings are getting excellent goaltending from Ville Husso, who is 11-4-3 with a 2.54 GAA. The 27-year-old native of Finland had a career year for St. Louis last season, going 25-7-6 with a 2.56 GAA. |
12-08-22 | Kings v. Maple Leafs -165 | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 44 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The offense has stepped up but the defense has carried the Maple Leafs, allowing only 2.44 goals per game with only eight goals in the last five games. Mark Giordano and Justin Holl have combined for 3.7 defensive point shares and 101 blocked shots while Rasmus Sandin and Timothy Liljegren have combined for 3.0 defensive point shares to give the Maple Leafs two great defensive pairings. In addition, goaltender Ilya Samsonov has been great in the net with a .924 save percentage and a 2.09 goals-against average on 238 shots. |
12-07-22 | Bruins -166 v. Avalanche | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 12 h 52 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The offense has been dominant but the defense has been great as well, allowing only 2.17 goals per game with only seven goals in the last four games. Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Carlo have combined for 4.4 defensive point shares and 60 blocked shots while Connor Clifton, Matt Grzelcyk, and Charlie McAvoy have combined for 3.9 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Linus Ullmark has been solid in the net with a .936 save percentage and a 1.93 goals-against average on 486 shots. |
12-07-22 | Sabres v. Blue Jackets +1.5 | 9-4 | Loss | -170 | 3 h 51 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Luukkonen has conceded three or more goals in four of his five appearances this season, giving him a 4.17 GAA and .856 save percentage on the year. Columbus swept the three-game season series a year ago and is 10-3-2 against the Sabres over the previous six seasons. |
12-06-22 | Blues v. Islanders -163 | 7-4 | Loss | -163 | 3 h 21 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Blues are looking to pull off the upset but playing the second game of a back-to-back, the Islanders look to take advantage of a tired team. The Islanders, who average 3.15 goals per game, should find the back of the net throughout the game with Mathew Barzal, Brock Nelson, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement while Noah Dobson and Ryan Pulock generate shots on the net from the blue line. The Islanders, who allow only 2.54 goals per game, should also limit a Blues offense that averages only 2.83 goals per game with Adam Pelech, Ryan Pulock, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Ilya Sorokin to make plenty of big saves. The Islanders should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice. |
12-05-22 | Capitals v. Oilers -145 | 3-2 | Loss | -145 | 5 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Capitals look to pull off the upset but the Oilers, who have won four of their last five games, look to control this game on both ends of the ice. The Oilers, who average 3.48 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Oilers should also limit a Capitals offense that has scored only four goals in their last two games with Darnell Nurse, Cody Ceci, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net while Stuart Skinner steps up and blank shots on the net. The Oilers should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
12-02-22 | Senators v. Rangers -172 | 3-2 | Loss | -172 | 5 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators are looking to even up the score and pull off the upset on the road. The problem is that the Rangers have looked promising and look to control this game from the opening puck drop. The Rangers should find the back of the net at will against a Senators defense that is allowing 3.36 goals per game with Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanjad, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Rangers, who allow only 2.79 goals per game, should also limit the Senators' offense with Adam Fox, Ryan Lindgren, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net while goaltender Igor Shesterkin blanks shots on the net. The Rangers should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice. |
11-27-22 | Senators v. Kings -148 | 3-2 | Loss | -148 | 12 h 12 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators finally got a monkey off their backs with that victory on Friday, but they have not been good on the road. While the Kings have not been great at home, Ottawa is 2-6-1 on the road, however, they have won two of their last four road contests, so this club may be finding some answers. The challenge is that they need outstanding goaltending to win on the road. The team is 2-4 on the road in November and allowed 17 goals in the four losses, but only two total goals in the wins. They are not able to find consistent goaltending to shut opponents down and L.A. is solid enough offensively to come away with a two-goal victory. |
11-26-22 | Blues v. Panthers -190 | 5-4 | Loss | -190 | 8 h 26 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units There is definitely a difference in the offensive production this season as St. Louis is scoring 2.84 goals while Florida is averaging 3.4 goals m thus far. Thomas Greiss and Spencer Knight are going to be in the net and obviously Knight is the better player on the ice at the position and should dominate in this game. All in all, go with the Florida Panthers |
11-25-22 | Jets v. Stars -155 | 5-4 | Loss | -155 | 9 h 19 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The home team has had their way between these teams this season. Dallas defeated Winnipeg at home on October 17, 4-1, and the Jets responded with a 5-1 victory at home on November 9. That has given the home team nine victories out of the last 10 meetings between these teams. Dallas also enters this game playing exceptionally well. They have earned points in six straight games, going 4-0-2 in that span. In fact, the club is 7-2-2 in November. They are getting outstanding performances across all four lines, and the goaltending has been spectacular. This is only the fourth game on the road this month for the Jets, and they are 1-2-0 through the first three, with the only victory being in overtime win against Seattle. Not exactly stellar performances. |
11-25-22 | Blues v. Lightning -170 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 54 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Lightning are having a strong season behind an offense that is scoring 3.37 goals per game with 21 goals in the last five games. Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, and Brayden Point have scored 26 goals and 41 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Alex Killorn, Nick Paul, and Brandon Hagel have combined for 19 goals and 22 assists while defensemen Mikhail Sergachev and Victor Hedman have added five goals and 23 assists from the point to overwhelm opposing defenses. |
11-25-22 | Hurricanes v. Bruins -150 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 4 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units It is hard to go against a team that is undefeated at home this season, and Boston has shown no signs of slowing up. The Bruins have completely shut down opponents at TD Garden this month, allowing a single goal in four of their five home contests and have allowed six total goals in five games. That is just ridiculous and is a primary reason why opponents have no chance of winning in Boston. In fact, the team has won all five of their games by at least two goals. Carolina enters this contest slumping. They are winless in their last four, producing six total goals in that span. That is not a good combination against the Boston team that is shutting opponents down while lighting up opposing goaltenders. |

11-23-22 | Jets +1.5 v. Wild | 1-6 | Loss | -185 | 5 h 7 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Jets have won three of their last four games and three of their last five road games. They are playing well offensively, scoring three or more goals in three of their last four games. They have also played well on special teams, converting 20 percent of their power play opportunities. The Wild have played well defensively this season, but they struggled in recent games, giving up nine goals in their last three games, and will have a hard time slowing down the Jets. |
11-23-22 | Flames +1.5 v. Penguins | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 2 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Penguins are looking to win on their home ice but the Flames look to extend their winning streak to three games and control this game on both ends of the ice. The Flames, who average 3.17 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Nazem Kadri, Elias Lindholm, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Flames should also limit the Penguins' offense with Nikita Zadorov and MacKenzie Weegar creating turnovers at the blue line and limiting the Penguins from establishing an offensive zone presence while goaltender Jacob Markstrom makes plenty of big saves in the net. |
11-22-22 | Rangers v. Kings +105 | 5-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 21 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Kings are currently enjoying one of their best starts to a season in the last few years, largely due to their solid domestic form, which most recently has brought in five consecutive wins. The Rangers have triumphed on four of their past six travels, but have been quite inconsistent overall, recording just three victories in their previous eight outings, going just 2-5 in their past seven matchups following a win. They have also managed to beat the Kings on just two of the most recent seven occasions, dropping their very last four trips to L.A.. Los Angeles, meanwhile, is 7-2 in its past nine Tuesday games and has been a force against teams from the Metropolitan Division, winning 10 of the previous 14 meetings. |
11-21-22 | Golden Knights v. Canucks +140 | 5-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Knights have managed to gather just a single victory in their most recent four contests. And while their road form has been exceptional throughout the whole current campaign (8-1-1, including 6-0-1 on the last seven travels), the ‘Nucks themselves have done great when playing on own ice, notching a 3-1-1 showing on the past five occasions. Vancouver has also gone with 11 victories in its previous 13 outings played on a two days rest, while Vegas has dropped a whopping seven of its most recent 10 games contested on Mondays. |
11-21-22 | Oilers v. Devils -148 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 14 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Devils have won 12 straight games and seven of their last eight home games. They have been on a roll offensively, scoring at least four goals in eight of their last 10 games. They have also played well on special teams, converting over 20 percent of their power play opportunities. The Oilers are one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to killing penalties and they gave up at least three goals in eight of their last nine games, so expect them to have a hard time slowing down the Devils. The Oilers have lost five of their last eight games and split their last four road games. |
11-19-22 | Rangers -145 v. Sharks | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 13 h 43 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units San Jose has not been a good team at home this season, going 1-6-3 in San Jose. This is why it is not surprising that the Rangers are prohibitive favorites. They have not been great on the road (4-3-1), but have clearly been better away from Madison Square Garden than San Jose has been on their own home ice. The goaltending situation definitely favors the Rangers. Shesterkin has turned into one of the top netminders in the NHL, and the Rangers are a better team 5-on-5. |
11-19-22 | Ducks v. Blues -210 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 16 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Anaheim is a mess, as the Ducks are last in the Pacific Division, 17 points behind first place. Anaheim is next to last in goals against average at 4.24 goals per game and is 29th in scoring with an average of just 2.65 goals per game. St Louis has not played excellent hockey but the Blues are allowing an average of only 3.50 goals per game which is much less than Anaheim is giving up. Anaheim has won only 13 of its last 52 games overall, while St Louis has had much success against teams from the Pacific Division, winning 15 of the last 20 in that situation. The Blues will be riding a five-game winning streak when hosting Anaheim, while the Ducks have lost four of the last five. |
11-19-22 | Flames v. Panthers -127 | 5-4 | Loss | -127 | 6 h 22 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Flames hold an excellent recent record against the Panthers, having beaten the Cats on eight of the past 11 occasions. Calgary has, however, struggled to put good-enough performances together lately, managing to win just two of its previous 10 overall fixtures and just one road outing during the current season so far. The Cats, on the other hand, have been solid on own ice throughout the past few campaigns, going 53-16 in their very last 69 domestic matchups. They have triumphed in two of their most recent three home meetings with the Flames and are set to welcome back Aleksander Barkov, who is likely to return from a non-Covid-related illness. He has amassed nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 12 career contests against Calgary |
11-17-22 | Ducks v. Jets -199 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 47 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The offense has stepped up but the defense has been one of the best in the league, allowing only 2.36 goals per game with only eight goals in the last five games. Josh Morrissey and Brenden Dillon have combined for 2.1 defensive point shares and 42 blocked shots while Nate Schmidt, Neal Pionk, and Dylan DeMelo have combined for 2.5 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Furthermore, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been great in the net with a .935 save percentage and a 2.08 goals-against average on 356 shots. |
11-16-22 | Kings v. Oilers -132 | 3-1 | Loss | -132 | 15 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Kings have failed to win any of their last three road contests, posting just a single win on their most recent six trips. That will definitely be a problem when facing off against the Oilers, who, despite dropping their previous two home matchups, have still recorded a whopping 12 triumphs in their most recent 16 encounters with Los Angeles in Edmonton. The Oilers have also beaten the Kings on seven of the past 10 occasions overall, winning by more than one strike in five of those outings. |
11-15-22 | Capitals v. Panthers -195 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 1 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Florida Panthers backup goalie Spencer Knight is seeing much more action and is 5-2-0 with a 2.3 1 goals-against average and is expected to be between the pipes again on Tuesday night when the Panthers host Washington. In seven appearances, Knight has one shutout and has allowed three goals or less in 6 of 7 starts. Florida has dominated this matchup, winning four of the last five games overall between the two and four of the last five games played on their home ice against the Capitals. The visiting team, in this case, Washington, has lost seven of the last 10 games between the two. |
11-15-22 | Canucks v. Sabres -103 | 5-4 | Loss | -103 | 1 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both teams are desperate to snap out of their losing streaks but I like the Sabres to snap out of their slump on their home ice. The Sabres should pile on the goals against a Canucks defense that allows 4.06 goals per game with Tage Thompson, Jeff Skinner, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with strong centering passes. The Sabres should also limit the Canucks offense with Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers at the blue line and limiting the Canucks from establishing a strong offensive zone presence while goaltender Eric Comrie makes plenty of big saves in the net. |
11-14-22 | Kings v. Flames -170 | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 5 h 60 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Flames have looked promising to start the season but hope the offense can step up, scoring only 2.93 goals per game. Nazem Kadri, Tyler Toffoli, and Elias Lindholm have scored 17 goals and 15 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only four skaters have scored five goals or more while only five skaters have added five assists or more to the offense and opposing defenses can limit the top-heavy offense as result. |
11-13-22 | Capitals v. Lightning -171 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 9 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Things did not go Tampa Bay’s way on Friday, when pucks refused to go into opposing Washington’s net and the team’s power play remained stale (0-for-3; 1-for-10 in the last three games). A return to Amalie Arena, though, will be highly appreciated, as the Bolts have already posted a decent 3-1-1 record in their most recent five domestic fixtures and will once again be facing off against the Capitals, who have only managed to win two of their past five trips to Tampa. Currently holding just two triumphs in its last seven outings overall, having posted just a single victory on its previous four travels. |
11-13-22 | Sharks v. Wild -227 | 3-2 | Loss | -227 | 9 h 32 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Fleury had a 3.71 goals-against average while starting 1-2-1 but owns a 1.70 GAA while winning five of seven since for the Wild, who hope to improve on a 2-4-0 home mark. In his last 11 starts against San Jose, with Vegas, Chicago and Minnesota, Fleury is 9-1-1 with a 1.54 GAA. Backup Filip Gustavsson (1-3-0, 3.10 GAA) has never faced San Jose. The Wild have won two straight and five of the last six against the Sharks, who ended their 2-3-0 slide with Friday's 5-4 victory at Dallas. San Jose ranks near the bottom of the NHL by allowing 58 goals, with 28 coming in the last six games. However, the Sharks have scored 23 times during that span, while coming out of a hostile environment in Dallas with just their fourth win in 16 games could potentially spark a needed run. |
11-12-22 | Blues v. Golden Knights -205 | 3-2 | Loss | -205 | 11 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units While St. Louis has to feel good after finally getting that big monkey off their backs, this is still a team who has lost four straight games on the road and has been handled in each of those losses, outscored 18-4. They are playing poorly away from St. Louis, scoring two goals or fewer in five of their road games. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights are looking untouchable. This is a team coming off an impressive five-game, East Coast road trip that saw the club win in Washington, Ottawa, Montréal, Toronto, and Buffalo. In their last three home contests, they have outscored opponents 9-2 and have yet to give up more than three goals at home this season. |
11-12-22 | Penguins v. Canadiens +158 | 4-5 | Win | 158 | 8 h 26 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canadiens have won back-to-back games and I see them stepping up and controlling this game on their home ice. The Canadiens should pile on the goals against a Penguins defense that is allowing 3.46 goals per game with Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. |
11-12-22 | Oilers v. Panthers -165 | 4-2 | Loss | -165 | 6 h 30 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Oilers have lost four of their last five games and two of their last three road games. Even though they are playing well offensively, expect them to struggle in this game because the Panthers are playing well defensively, giving up five goals in their last three home games. They’ve also done well on special teams, killing 75 percent of their penalties, and won’t have trouble keeping Edmonton’s offense in check. The Panthers have won three of their last four games and three straight home games. They are playing well offensively, scoring at least four goals in three of their last four games. |
11-12-22 | Senators v. Flyers +120 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 33 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators have lost seven straight games and all five road games they have played this season. Even though they continue to play well offensively, they will struggle in this game because the Flyers have done a good job defensively, holding opponents under three goals per game. They’ve also done well on special teams, killing 83.7 percent of their penalties, and will keep Ottawa’s offense in check. The Flyers have won two of their last three games and two of their last three home games. |
11-11-22 | Wild v. Seattle Kraken +104 | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 32 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Kraken are currently enjoying the best form of their existence, riding a franchise-record five-game winning run. And that will definitely be a problem for Minnesota, which has struggled against opponents from the Western Conference of late, managing to register just three triumphs on the last 10 occasions. The Wild were already blanked with a count of 4-0 on own ice by Seattle just two games ago and have posted a disappointing 1-5 total in their most recent six fixtures versus sides with a winning record. The Kraken, meanwhile, are playing with tremendous confidence and have notched nine wins in their past 13 outings against teams with a losing record. |
11-11-22 | Sharks v. Stars -220 | 5-4 | Loss | -220 | 8 h 56 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Stars have looked like one the best teams in the Western Conference and I see them not only defeating the Stars but doing so in a dominant fashion. The Stars, who average 3.62 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick puck movement to overwhelm a Sharks defense that allows 3.29 goals per game. |
11-10-22 | Flames v. Bruins -189 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 13 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins have won eight of their last nine games and seven straight home games. They have played well offensively this season, scoring at least four goals in five of their last six games. They’ve done a great job on special teams, converting 26.7 percent of their power play opportunities. The Flames aren’t very good defensively and they struggled in recent games, giving up at least four goals in four of their last five games and will have a hard time slowing down the Bruins, so go with Boston to cover the money line. |
11-10-22 | Senators v. Devils -180 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 6 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Ottawa has dropped six straight games as their defensive zone play has been dismal, overshadowing what has been a prolific offensive attack. The Senators are winless on the road this season (0-4-0) and have dropped six straight games. Meanwhile, New Jersey has ripped off seven straight wins to climb to the top of the Metropolitan Division. Their youth movement has paid dividends and Vanecek has been solid between the pipes after coming over as a free agent in the offseason. New Jersey is 5-2-0 on home ice and are rolling right now. |
11-09-22 | Penguins v. Capitals +119 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 50 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Pittsburgh enjoyed a 4-0-1 start to the season before its troubles began with a 6-3 setback against the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 24. That result started a disastrous 0-6-1 run, marking the Penguins' longest winless stretch since Jan. 26-Feb. 8, 2006. To put that into context: A then-18-year-old Sidney Crosby was playing in his rookie season. Washington won three of the four meetings between the Metropolitan Division rivals last season. Ovechkin (one goal, four assists) and Kuznetsov (three goals, two assists) each had five points in the season series, while Crosby had four assists. |
11-08-22 | Predators v. Seattle Kraken -116 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 11 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both Nashville and Seattle are struggling to defend, though Martin Jones has turned the corner after a horrible start to the season. The Kraken are 5-1 in their previous six games overall, while the Predators have only won five of their last 17 games at any location. |
11-08-22 | Oilers v. Lightning -163 | 3-2 | Loss | -163 | 9 h 3 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Edmonton is going to have their work cut out for them here with the second game of a back-to-back and their third game in four nights. The Oilers entered Monday unbeaten on the road but facing a Lightning team that has seemingly found their stride is going to be a daunting task for them. Tampa Bay has been good with a 4-0-1 mark in their last five games and they are always tough at home. The Lightning are 3-1-1 on home ice this season and we know how dangerous Vasilevskiy is playing at the Amalie Arena. Give the edge to Tampa Bay as fatigue gets the better of the Oilers in crunch time. |
11-08-22 | Blues v. Flyers +112 | 1-5 | Win | 112 | 9 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Blues have lost six straight games and two of their last three road games. They have struggled offensively, scoring only 10 goals in their last six games. Even though the Flyers have also struggled in recent games, they continue to play good defense, giving up only six goals in their last three games. They’ve also played well on special teams, killing 82.1 percent of their penalties, and will keep St. Louis’ offense in check. The Flyers struggled offensively during their road trip, but they have played well at home where they scored seven goals in their last two games. They’ve also taken advantage of their power play opportunities, converting 20 percent of their chances. |
11-08-22 | Flames v. Devils -131 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Devils look like one of the best teams in the league and look to once again overwhelm the Flames on both ends of the ice. The Devils, who average 3.67 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with speed on the wing. The Devils, who allow only 2.58 goals per game, should also limit the Flames with John Marino, Ryan Graves, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in all three zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Vitek Vanecek to make plenty of big saves. |
11-08-22 | Coyotes v. Sabres -190 | 4-1 | Loss | -190 | 9 h 36 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Coyotes are looking to build off a recent win and pull off an upset on the road. The problem is that the Sabres are looking to bounce back from two rough losses and control this game from the opening puck drop. The Sabres, who average 4.08 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Sabres should also limit a Coyotes offense that is scoring only 2.82 goals per game with Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and the rest of the unit stepping up and creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net. |
11-07-22 | Blues v. Bruins -178 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins are having a great season with their offense scoring 4.17 goals per game including 21 goals in the last five games. David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron have scored 12 goals and 17 assists while defenseman Hampus Lindholm is adding four goals and nine assists from the point but the rest of the offense has also been great. Taylor Hall, Jake DeBrusk, and David Krejci have combined for 11 goals and 15 assists while Charlie Coyle, Nick Foligno, and Pavel Zacha have added 10 goals and 11 assists to the backend of the forward unit, giving the Bruins multiple great forward lines. Additionally, goaltender Linus Ullmark is having a great season in the net with a .929 save percentage and a 2.16 goals-against average on 283 shots. |
