Seattle at L.A. Angels 4:10 ET Angels over Mariners- L.A. got the pitching performance they needed from Shohei Ohtani who went seven innings allowing no runs and striking out eight in Saturday's 2-1 victory. Today, I'm expecting more of the same from Reid (No-Hit) Detmers (5-5, 3.82 ERA) who is making his second season memorable. He has allowed only 94 hits in 113 innings and defeated Seattle 7-1 on August 6 going seven innings giving up one run to post the win. He was 6-4 with a 3.71 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 97 innings over 20 starts for Rochester this year. The Reds will counter with veteran lefty Mike Minor (2-10, 6.44), who is coming off his first win in over two months. Arizona at Kansas City 8:10 ET Royals over D'backs- Wait a second, in his last three starts Zac Gallen (9-2, 2.78 ERA) has gone 21.1 innings surrendering nine hits and NO earned runs and now he's favored on the road. 08-24-22 | White Sox -112 v. Orioles | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 31 m | Show |
Chicago White Sox at Baltimore 7:05 ET White Sox over Orioles- After posting three straight wins Lucas Giolito (9-6, 5.34 ERA) was bombed to high heaven by Houston giving up eight hits and seven earned runs in 3.1 innings. That's happened way too many times as he has surrendered 134 hits in just 116 innings. Baltimore will start Spenser Watkins (4-3, 4.04) and he also has surrendered more hits that innings pitched. Plenty of base runner and runs tonight. Sox 8-3 on the road against winning teams. Play WHITE SOX! |

08-23-22 | Diamondbacks -120 v. Royals | Top | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 4 m | Show |
Arizona at Kansas City 8:10 ET Diamondbacks over Royals- Maybe Arizona isn't as bad as I thought as the bookmakers think enough of them to make them favorites on the road, be it against the Royals. Zach Davies (2-4, 3.99 ERA) gets the nod for Arizona and he hasn't won since May 13 a span of 12 straight starts. Doesn't it seem a bit strange that he would be favored on the road. But, ahhh...now we see and for good reason as Kansas City is starting Jonathan Heasley (1-7, 5.61) and he has surrendered 66 hits in 61 innings with only 46 K's along with 13 homers and six wild pitches. Take ARIZONA! |
|||||||
08-23-22 | White Sox -130 v. Orioles | 3-5 | Loss | -130 | 9 h 0 m | Show
Chicago White Sox at Baltimore 7:05 ET White Sox over Orioles- The fact that Chicago is favored in this contest made me do a double-take as the Orioles have a better record and are the home team as well. So, it must be because of the difference in the quality of the starting pitchers but, I don't see that as a major factor here. Baltimore starter Auston Voth (3-1, 2.81 ERA) has been very effective hold opponents to just 41 hits in 48 innings. For the White Sox it will Dylan Cease (12-5, 2.09) who has been even more impressive surrendering just 98 hits in 134 innings with 178 strikeouts. Sox are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings. Take CHICAGO WHITE SOX! |
|||||||
08-21-22 | Red Sox -106 v. Orioles | Top | 3-5 | Loss | -106 | 9 h 52 m | Show |
Boston at Baltimore 7:10 ET Red Sox over Orioles- The Orioles plan to send right-hander Dean Kremer (5-4, 3.58 ERA) to the mound for the series finale on Sunday. Kremer is 2-1 in three starts this month with a 2.84 ERA. The lone loss came against Boston on Aug. 11, when he gave up four runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 4-3 loss and he has made two other starts against the Red Sox in his career and lost those as well, leaving him 0-3 and 9.45 ERA against Boston. The Red Sox plan to start right-hander Nick Pivetta (9-9, 4.28) who blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates on one hit over seven innings in a 5-3 Boston victory on Tuesday, ending a streak of eight consecutive starts without earning a win. Pivetta has had success overall against Baltimore in his career, owning a 7-2 mark in 10 starts with a 3.58 ERA. Take BOSTON! |
|||||||

Houston at Atlanta 7:15 ET Braves over Astros- Cristian Javier (7-8, 2.96 ERA) is slated to start Saturday for the Astros against fellow Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (7-4, 3.04). Atlanta has won 10 of the last 11 games and their surge began after they lost four of five to the Mets in a series. Javier has never faced the Braves in the regular season, although he was 0-1 with a 12.20 ERA in three relief appearances against Atlanta in the World Series. The Astros will face Strider for the first time and they will not like it. Take ATLANTA! |
|||||||
08-20-22 | Brewers v. Cubs +112 | 5-6 | Win | 112 | 5 h 44 m | Show
Milwaukee at Chicago Cubs 2:20 ET Cubs over Brewers- The Brewers have lost three straight to the Cubs and five of the past six meetings. |||||||
08-19-22 | Astros v. Braves -118 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 9 h 45 m | Show
Houston at Atlanta 7:20 ET Braves over Astros- Atlanta is creeping up on the Mets and one of the reasons is the consistency of their pitching staff led by Kyle Wright (14-5, 3.14 ERA). In his last eight starts Wright has surrendered more than two runs twice while giving up three runs once. He has been hit safely only 118 times in 135 innings. Houston will start Lance McCullers Jr. who is making just his second start of the season and he threw six shutout innings against the lowly A's. He will find the Braves a tougher opponent to face and the Astros are just 4-9 in their last 13 games at Atlanta. Take the BRAVES! |
|||||||
08-19-22 | Blue Jays v. Yankees -105 | 4-0 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 31 m | Show
Toronto at N.Y. Yankees 7:05 ET Blue Jays over Yankees- The Yankees, who are 4-13 in their past 17 contests, went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the opener against Toronto. New York batters struck out 13 times, and the team's only runs came on balls that did not leave the infield. Jameson Taillon (11-3, 3.95), who leads the Yankees in wins, gets the call on Friday. The right-hander took the loss in his latest outing; he allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings in a 3-0 defeat at Boston on Sunday. Taillon is 4-3 with a 3.51 ERA in eight career starts against the Blue Jays, including 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA in four starts this year. Toronto hands the ball to Kevin Gausman (8-9, 3.16 ERA). The right-hander is 3-6 with a 3.81 ERA over 12 starts since the beginning of June. Gausman followed consecutive scoreless outings by getting tagged for five runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings during a 7-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. Gausman is 7-7 with a 3.74 ERA in 25 career appearances (19 starts) against the Yankees. Take NEW YORK! |

N.Y. Mets at Philadelphia 7:05 ET Phillies over Mets- After winning 17 of 20, the first-place Mets dropped three of four to the second-place Braves this week. Chris Bassitt (10-7, 3.27 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Mets on Friday. Bassitt's last start also came against the Phillies, and he allowed four hits and no runs in five innings in a win on Sunday. Bassitt is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA in three career starts against the Phillies, all coming this season. He has struck out 16 and walked six in 16 2/3 innings during those outings. The Phillies will hand the ball on Friday to Aaron Nola (8-9, 3.07 ERA). Nola has had quite a bit of success against the Mets, going 9-6 with a 3.09 ERA in 24 career starts, including four this season. Take PHILADELPHIA! |

N.Y. Mets at Atlanta 7:10 ET Braves over Mets- Atlanta's Max Fried has not pitched since the second game of the doubleheader against the Mets on Aug. 6. He threw six innings and allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk, with five strikeouts. In 26 career starts against Atlanta, deGrom is 10-7 with a 2.01 ERA. |||||||
08-17-22 | Astros v. White Sox +135 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 58 m | Show
Houston at Chicago White Sox 8:15 ET White Sox over Astros- Framber Valdez (11-4, 2.73 ERA) Michael Kopech (4-8, 3.18) it's hard to understand why Kopech has such a poor record as his ERA is outstanding and he has only surrendered only 73 hits in 105 innings. Maybe the 13 home runs given up has something to do with it. When he's on nobody hits him and last time out he went six inning without giving up a hit with 11 K's. Astros 0-5 last five on the road and 1-6 in last seven at Chicago and Pale Hose have won their last eight home games. Chicago has won their last six meetings and this makes seven meetings. Take WHITE SOX! |

Brewers are 8-1 in last nine home starts against right-handed hurlers. After Tuesday's come-from-behind win the 'Brew Crew' believes the 'mojo' has shifted to their side. Take MILWAUKEE! |
|||||||
08-17-22 | Padres v. Marlins +138 | 10-3 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 57 m | Show
San Diego at Miami 4:10 ET Marlins over Padres- Same old story with the Padres as with or without their Prima's as they just lay down on the road and currently are 2-7 in their last nine away games. Miami who is in a consistent battle every season to keep from losing 100 games is 5-0 in their last five games at home. Pablo Lopez (7-7, 3.55 ERA) is in his fifth year with Miami and in every season he has held the opposition to less hits than innings pitched and he has as many strikeouts as innings pitched. Take MIAMI! |
|||||||
08-16-22 | Astros v. White Sox +120 | 3-4 | Win | 120 | 9 h 24 m | Show
Houston at Chicago White Sox 8:10 ET White Sox over Astros- 'Whoa Nellie'...this should be a good one, if you appreciate great pitching as 'Future Hall of Fame' Justin Verlander (15-3, 1.85 ERA) take the hill for Houston and is having another Cy Young season and he will be opposed by the White Sox Dylan Cease (12-5, 1.96). Both of these guys are impossible to hit as Verlander has given up 93 hits in 136 innings and Cease in 129 innings has surrendered 92 hits. Play WHITE SOX! |
|||||||
08-16-22 | Dodgers v. Brewers -120 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 23 m | Show
L.A. Dodgers at Milwaukee 8:10 ET Brewers over Dodgers- The Dodgers are running roughshod through the rest of baseball since the All-Star break and don't look like they can be caught. Milwaukee is now under new management and has sold their bullpen but still have some of the leagues best starters as in Brandon Woodruff (9-3, 3.52 ERA) who has been beaten in his last eight starts. Brewers are 8-3 in their last 11 home games including 7-1 in their last eight home games started against right handers. Take MILWAUKEE! |
|||||||
08-16-22 | Mets v. Braves -140 | Top | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 35 m | Show |
New York Mets at Atlanta 7:20 ET Braves over Mets- Turnabout is fair play when team exchange home venues in crucial division series. New York capped off a five-game home matchup with the Braves and won 4-of-5 expanding their lead to six game. Now, it's Atlanta time to shine as the home team and run their strongest opponent out of the formerly burnt to the ground Atlanta. (A little Sherman history). Taijuan Walker (10-3, 3.43 ERA) has been a huge plus for the Mets with deGrom down for four months but have surrendered 13 runs in his last three starts coving just 12.2 innings. The Braves Charlie Morton (5-5, 4.26) doesn't seem the same as years past but, he's still difficult to hit allowing 104 in 123 innings. Home team is 50-24 in last 74 games as hosts. Take ATLANTA! |

(I later in life apologized personally to 'The 'Mick'). But, the point is that I always rooted for the Cardinals not only because the had the coolest uniforms and they were the only team aside from the old New York Giants that held an advantage over the Yankees. Okay so much for that but, after blowing last night's game they way they did I expect new York be take command early here and cruise to a win. Take the YANKEES! |

Boston at Kansas City 8:10 ET Red Sox over Royals- My first thought about this game is that Zack Greinke (3-6, 4.41 ERA) is an underdog at home and against an unannounced starter during the over-nights. I think we all know why as he has his 'swan song' season with Kansa City and just doesn't has 'it' any more (maybe a flash or so but no longer top shelf. Greinke, who owns a 2-5 record and a 5.09 ERA in nine career appearances (eight starts) against the Red Sox. Milwaukee at San Francisco 10:15 ET Brewers over Giants- Ya know, Milwaukee played one of those games where you never believed that you could win. They had 11 hits in the fifth inning and had scored only one run while the Giants had two runs on two hits. Burnes was his usual self and they gutted out a gritty win and are now favored on the road again. So, we will have them again with Brandon Woodruff (7-3, 4.01 ERA) on the hill as we will back the Brewers who are 5-1 in their last six in San Francisco. Take MILWAUKEE! |

07-15-22 | White Sox v. Twins -130 | 6-2 | Loss | -130 | 17 h 40 m | Show
Chicago White Sox at Minnesota 8:10 ET Twins over Pale Hose- Chicago's Michael Kopech (2-6, 3.35 ERA) threw one of the most impressive performances against the Yankees back in May and has gone 1-5 in his last eight starts including getting hammer by this same Twins July 5 for six earned runs in 4.2 surrendering eight hits and six weeks. Minnesota starter Devin Smeltzer (4-2, 3.92) is 0-1 in his last three starts getting hit hard in the last two but, nowhere near as bad as they other guy. Twins are 7-2 in the last nine meetings including 5-1 at home. Take MINNESOTA! |

07-15-22 | Orioles v. Rays -115 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 16 h 39 m | Show
Baltimore at Tampa Bay 7:10 ET Rays over Orioles- Baltimore's improbable 10 game winning streak and the truth of the matter is that they sandwiched seven home games in before winning their last two at Wrigley against the Cubs. What I'm getting at is that they are seven games under .500 on the road while Tampa Bay with one of the best home field advantages is 12 games over 500. as hosts. Orioles are even worse in Tampa where they are 14-39 in the last 53 meetings. Take TAMPA BAY! |

07-14-22 | Brewers -105 v. Giants | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 48 m | Show
Milwaukee at San Francisco 9:45 ET Brewers over Giants- A great matchup of a pair of All-Stars that will be teammates in LA for the gala event as Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes (7-4, 2.20 ERA) will start for Colorado and will be opposed by Carlos Rodon (8-5, 2.70) for the Giants. Both hurlers have been outstanding as Rodon has allowed only 74 hits in 100 innings and Burnes has been even better allowing just 69 hits in 106.1 innings. Brewers are 4-1 in their last five games in San Francisco and the under is 3-1-1. I expect this to stay under and for MILWAUKEE to WIN! |

07-14-22 | Red Sox v. Rays -124 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 6 h 58 m | Show
Boston at Tampa Bay 7:05 ET Rays over Red Sox- Both of these clubs with 47 wins will keep on truckin' despite New York's huge lead in the Al east and baseball overall. Tampa Bay sends Drew Rasmussen (5-3, 3.11 ERA) to the bump while Boston will send Kutter Crawford (23-2, 4.50) who is making his second straight start in 12 appearances after shutting down the Yankees on one run in five innings last time out. Rays 27-17 at home and have won last two over Boston as hosts. Take TAMPA BAY! |
