Although I don't mind this Wolfsburg team as a group, this is not a great matchup for it on Sunday. The Wolves are in horrible form at the moment, dropping four of their most recent five contests. Like many, they also haven't been great away from home. This will be a hostile atmosphere for them here today. 

Stuttgart have one of the most under appreciated midfields in the world of European football. With Stiller & El Khannouss, this team is sneaky good. It's in much, much better form than its opponents and currently sit in the top four of the Bundesliga, hoping for a spot in the UCL for next season. That being said, winning games like this are crucial. I'll lay the goal, expecting a big home win on Sunday.

Having won consecutive games, Villarreal remains 3rd in La Liga at the moment. This is an excellent feat considering that nobody was expecting this to happen with just 13 games left in the season. Having said that, limiting opponent goals will be difficult on Saturday against the leagues most dominant offensive attack in Barcelona. Barca has scored 67 goals in 25 games this season. That's 2.68 per game and considering that, I believe that it's going to be able to score at least three on Saturday. But, given Villareal's success this year this should be an exciting matchup. Barcelona has struggled at times with opposing counter attacking. Give me the "over" as my LA LIGA TOTAL OF THE YEAR.

After making the MLS Cup Finals last year, Vancouver's going to be one of the favorites to get back to the finals again this year. The Whitecaps have a phenomenal fan base and will have tons of fans out to support here on opening day/night. They have beaten RSL in consecutive games, winning both at home/away last year. 

Talking about Real Salt Lake, it didn't travel well last year, losing 10 out of its 17 road games a season ago. The Claret and Cobalt managed to get the ninth best record in the West last year on goal difference. But, it didn't mean much, losing in the playoff-wildcard round against Portland. I expect RSL to have trouble defending the most prominent western conference attack from a year ago this evening.

After having a bit of a "rough" patch in the season, Bayern looks to be fully back in form entering this weekends matchup. The defending German champs have outscored their opponent seven goals to one. Bayern Munich has scored 79 goals in 21 Bundesliga games this year. That's an absurd 3.76 per game. 

If we shift gears to its opponent, Werder Bremen just isn't very good. Averaging nearly a defeat in half of its Bundesliga matchups in 2025-26, there isn't much hope for the home side to win this game. Werder lost in the first matchup this season 4-0. I don't see why this one shouldn't be a similar result as Bayern can relax without a UCL game this week.

Alanyaspor has gotten the majority of its points by drawing a lot of games. As a matter of fact, it's drawn 10 contests this year in 20 games. That being said, it's going to be much harder to get a draw out of this matchup against an opponent that's beginning to gain more and more momentum to get back into the race for Turkish gold. 

Besiktas might have drawn its contest on Thursday in the Turkish Cup. But, it's won five consecutive games played at home in all competitions and I won with Besiktas last weekend in the Super Lig. I expect The Black Eagles to continue the trend by dominating at home and potentially gain some points on Galatasaray, and the rest of the top teams in the league. Give me Beşiktaş.

While Chelsea might not be necessarily in the title race, it's still very much in the race to reach the top four and qualify for the Champions League for next season. That being said, there's plenty to play for this match week against the team that been the worst in the EPL throughout this entire campaign. 

After (me) winning against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, I'm going against it again on Saturday. Wolves have simply been horrible this season (1-5-18) and there's no way around it. Not only that, but they just lost Jørgen Strand Larsen, their striker. I expect another Wolverhampton loss against Chelsea this weekend.

While US Sassuolo Calcio is much better in the table this season, it's had struggles in front of goal this season averaging just 1.22 goals per game through 18 games. Sassuolo's been worse on the road as well, just like most teams in the Serie A and other competitions around the world. 

All season long, Pisa has struggled to establish any sort of rhythm. Currently in dead last in the Serie A, Pisa has scored only 18 goals in all of its 22 games played on the campaign. That's simply not good enough. Even at home on Saturday, I'm not expecting Pisa to get on the scoreboard. I expect a 0-0 or 1-0 contest to be played on Saturday.

Even playing on the road I believe that Wrexham is going to continue its charge to become the first team ever to earn a fourth consecutive promotion in English football. It's playing great football this season and just knocked off 12th ranked QPR on the road last weekend. Sheffield Wednesday is dead last in the Championship and is definitely going to be demoted at the end of this season. Winners of only one game in 28 with 19 defeats, I simply don't see it having a chance against anyone in the top six of this league at the moment. Give me Wrexham, early on Saturday.

Despite having had sub-par results on the road this season, I believe that Wolfsburg is finally going to pull through on Friday with a strong performance. FC Koln has been weak at the back all year long, especially lately, allowing eight goals over its past five games. Koln's struggled at home dearly having lost three of its past four home matches this season in the Bundesliga (drawing the other contest.) 

Wolfsburg's defense has been leaky as well. But, the road side has won or drawn in all four matches against Koln since 2023. I believe that its style of play fares well against Koln and that should help get it at least another draw out of this encounter. I wouldn't be surprised if Wolfsburg wins this match outright.

While FC Viktoria Plzeň hasn't actually lost a match in seven games in the Europa League this campaign, it's time for that first loss to come. The Czechia side has already qualified to the knockout stage and cannot reach the top eight, leaving it no real worries for this match. FC Basel, on the other hand, need to win this game. There's everything on the line for this afternoon's matchup and I don't believe that a draw is going to be good enough. Playing at home where it's most comfortable, the Basel fans will be behind it and get involved heavily into this matchup. Basel scored four goals last time out and I wouldn't be shocked if the goals get piled on again here as goal difference could be the difference between a few spots.

Coming off its first loss of the Bundesliga season, I believe that Bayern Munich is going to want to make amends on Wednesday in this Champions League matchup. The German giants have been nearly unstoppable all season long with their electrifying attacking play. Averaging 3.9 goals per game combined with their opponents in this year's UCL campaign so far, I believe that there's even more motivation to score a bunch themselves. 

PSV Eindhoven's attack has also been excellent this season. Playing in the Eredivisie, the competition is much weaker. But, PSV still has scored 61 in 20 matches, which is more than three goals per game. I expect PSV to crack the defense of Bayern in this one, and contribute to the scoring of an expected high scoring affair. 

In the end, expect tons of action on both sides of the pitch. Bayern has some injuries on the back line so that could shake some things up. But, I simply don't see these two teams combining for less than four goals on Wednesday. Hammer the "over."

Considering how Álvaro Arbeloa's manager campaign for Madrid began, people weren't so sure that it was the right decision. I mean, a loss against Albecete in the Copa Del Rey is pretty unacceptable. But, there's nothing that can change the past and everyone must move on. That's exactly what Arbeloa's done over the next two games, winning 2-0 against Levante & 6-1 on Wednesday against AS Monaco. 

Villarreal has had a phenomenal campaign so far, currently ahead of Atletico in the La Liga table. That being said, I don't believe that it's going to have much success against a very motivated Real Madrid squad at the moment, even at home. Villarreal lost in the UCL against Ajax at home and hasn't shown great form either. I expect Madrid to take all three points with ease on Saturday.

Over the past couple of years, many top players from around the world have made their way to Saudi Arabia to make the big bucks. The amounts that the country are paying people are quite absurd, especially the best of the best like Ronaldo. That's made the Saudi Pro League very competitive near the top. Al Shabab has a couple of capable players and is coming off a three goal win against Neom in its last game and I'm expecting it to get on the scoreboard again. 

Al Nassr has been able to score 39 goals so far in only 14 matches played. That's an average of 2.8 per game. It's also allowed more than a goal per game as well though. With the likes of Ronaldo, Felix and Coman on the forward line, I could see Al Nassr going "over" this total by itself. Play the "over" on Saturday.

Despite somewhat struggling in the Championship at the moment, Leicester City still find itself in a very winnable game in the FA Cup this weekend. The Foxes most definitely still have quality on their roster and should be able go on the road and dominate against an opponent in the fourth division of English football at the moment.

Talking about the lower division side, Cheltenham Town isn't even doing well itself. This season, it's lost more than half of the games that's it's played in within its division. I believe that this should be an easy win for Leicester City on Saturday to keep rolling in the FA Cup.

Wolverhampton might like its chances more than it originally would with all of the injuries and absentees. However, this is still going to be a very difficult road contest for the Wolves considering it's at Anfield and how bad they've been throughout the year. Currently dead last in the EPL, they've yet to win a single game within the league, losing 15 while drawing two. 

Liverpool will be without lots of its main guys this weekend but I still don't believe that it's going to slow the reds down. This should be a complete destruction no matter who's in the lineup. And with Liverpool starting heat up again, I'll load up of it to win by 2+ on Saturday.

Crystal Palace did not look good in the game on Saturday vs. Leeds United. I know it was a road game in a hostile environment at Ellen Road. However, this match is going to be at an even tougher of a place at the Emirates on Tuesday. Palace has the talent to compete with some of the best in the Premier League. That being said, given its form at the moment, I do not see it having much of a chance against the #1 ranked EPL side on the road at the moment. 

Arsenal continues to win and has won three consecutive matches now after Saturday's 1-0 victory. The Gunners are likely to rest some guys as this isn't the most important game on their schedule at the moment. But, they are definitely strong enough with the squad that they have to dominate this match. Crystal Palace is completely gassed with all of the injuries. Give me Arsenal on Tuesday afternoon.

Cremonese isn't one of the worst teams in Serie A. However, it's still not considered to be a top club in Italian Soccer. Against Torino in its last contest (also on the road,) Cremonese wasn't able to find the back of the net, leading to a 1-0 defeat. It's now lost four of its past six games on the campaign.

Looking at Lazio, I've been very successful when playing on it in the past. As a matter of fact I'm 3-0 in Lazio matches, playing on it in each of those days. Lazio has one of the best defenses in the Serie A, allowing only 11 goals through 15 games. Even on a 1H red card, Lazio was able to win last time out against Parma. I expect another win from Lazio on Saturday.

Coming from the HNL in Croatia, HNK Rijeka hasn't been too bad within the Europa League. That being said, it hasn't been the best of season's domestically for the side currently sitting in 6th place in the Croatian League with five defeats and six draws in 16 games. Having said that, I believe that it's going to have some struggles on the road against one of the top Ukrainian clubs of the past decade. 

Shakhtar Donetsk rivals Dynamo Kyiv for the number one position in Ukraine for the most part. But, this season, Shakhtar has been the better side. At the moment, it's in second in both the UECL as well as the UPL. Shakkhtar come into this game having won its past 3 UECL matches and are also on a winning streak of nine games. I like this line on Thursday.

Even though Real Madrid has had some struggles recently, kind of like Liverpool within the EPL, I still firmly believe in this side and expect Xabi Alonso to get his team straight for this weekend's game. Real Madrid has so many ballers on its team that its bench could be one of the best sides on paper in the world. That being said, this is a match that it needs to finish with three points, whatever it takes. 

Deportivo Alavés is in solid form having won consecutive games. Prior to that though, Barcelona was able to run right through it with a 3-1 defeat. Alaves is not very high in the La Liga table with seven losses on the year, just under 50% of its games. Madrid should be able to capitalize on this "easier" matchup and play with a lot of freedom, even on the road. I expect a comfortable victory and for the superstars to show up on Sunday

Fortuna Sittard may not be the most well known team in the Eredivisie Division in Dutch football. However, it's definitely capable of going teams a run for it's money and I believe that today's game should be back and forth. Fortuna has allowed 10 goals over its past five games as well meaning that it's susceptible to giving up quite a bit as well. 

PEC Zwolle is lower in the standings than Fortuna Sittard. However, it's just two points behind. It's played in even higher scoring games this year, allowing the second most goals out of any team in the Eredivisie. This game has shootout written all over it. 

Burns' Prediction: 3-2 Zwolle.

Even though Bristol City has had a fairly solid campaign through more than half the season now, I don't believe that this is a great matchup for it. Bristol comes into this match having lost two of its last four contests as well as drawing one of the other two. Playing on the road against the current #1 team in the league isn't going to be an easy feat whatsoever. 

Coventry City is in the midst of a fantastic season and I don't expect things to slow down. This team is going to be ecstatic to be back home and playing in front of it's fans given that it's won seven of nine home games on the season (drawn the other two.) 

With the undefeated record at home for Coventry and even despite the injuries going on at the moment, I do believe that with how well it's playing it should be able to rebound from the away games over the past weeks. Coventry takes this one.

Since its last Europa League matchup, Feyenoord has been on fire in front of goal. In those two matches in the Eredivisie, it's scored eight goals and won both matches comfortably. That's now 41 goals scored in 15 games this season, resulting in an average of 2.73 goals per game. It's also allowed more than a goal per game though too, so lots of high scoring games. 

Steaua București, from Romania of course, needs to start putting some better games together. Yes, it's had some solid results at times in the SuperLiga this season. But, it's simply not been good enough. It's been in the top Romanian division for its entire existence and if the season ended today it would have to play in the relegation round. FCSB and its opponent have combined for 2.74 goals per game this season which is basically what this total is at. Given Feyenoord's style of play, I love this "over" in this matchup.

All season long, Bayern Munich has supplied the ability to score, against any team. Even though it was a loss against Arsenal that it suffered in the UCL recently, the kings of Germany didn't take too much time to dwell on that performance and scored three goals in consecutive games/wins since that match already. 

Stuttgart has been piling up the goals itself as of late. Over its past six contest across all competitions, it's been able to put 16 goals in the back of the net. That's excellent for any team in the Bundesliga. Having said that, I like its chances to put at least one past Bayern. 

Both of these teams are capable of scoring and have shown meltdowns defensively in recent weeks. I'm hammering the "over" in this contest on Saturday in Stuttgart.

Practically dead last in the Serie A, Fiorentina has been very, very bad this season. It's quite shocking considering that it hasn't been horrible in the UECL whatsoever. But, during 13 games this season, Fiorentina has yet to win a single game within Italia. At least its defense hasn't been horrendous, like most teams in Italy, keeping the scores much lower. 

Sassuolo has fared much better than its opponent today and is at home for this match. It should be considered the favorite but given that it just got shut out vs. Como in its last game, I wouldn't be shocked if Sassuolo had a harder time scoring here on Saturday. I don't expect much goal scoring in this one. 

Burns' Prediction: 1-0 Sassuolo.

Even though it hasn't been the best of seasons for Besiktas so far, I still believe that this is one of the most talented teams in the Turkish Süper Lig. Sitting in 7th at the moment, it's actually scored the fourth most goals this season and has a very solid goal differential. 

On the other hand, Fatih Karagumruk is in dead last in the league at the moment. I mean a 2-2-9 record on the season is simply not good enough from this team. I know that Fatih Karagumruk is coming off its 2nd win of the campaign in its last home game within the league and drew its last game, I still don't think that it's going anywhere. 

With Besiktas having won two of it's last three matches on the road and drawn the other one, I believe that it should have no problem going into the Karagümrük neighbourhood of the Fatih district in Istanbul and taking three point on Sunday. 

Burns' Prediction: 3-1 Beşiktaş

Although I have great respect for this Athletic Bilbao side that possesses great talent up front including Niko Williams, I don't believe it has the overall quality to compete in this sort of match. The road team has only four points in five road games this season with a 1-1-3 record. It's sitting slightly above middle of the table, but definitely not on the same level as Barca. 

Talking about Barcelona, the time has finally come to return to its home stadium. Camp Nou is ready and should be full of energy on Saturday on November 22nd. Yes, Barca has lots going on at the moment. But, Lewandowski is back and is looking like one of the best in the world once again. 

I expect Barcelona to have the ball for the entirety of the game pretty much and that should lead to plenty of chances. I don't see a way that it loses this game and even if Athletic Bilbao keeps it within a goal, it'll be a draw for me. I'll lay the goal and expect a multiple goal win on Saturday.

Considering West Ham is in 18th at the moment, which is a relegation position, you'd think that it's had struggles offensively. I mean, it's definitely not as good as some of the best teams of course. However, West Ham actually averages more than a goal per game right now through 11 games this season. 

Bournemouth has to get back into form playing at home against one of the worst teams in the Premier League. This game has all the means of a high scoring affair and I believe that both teams should be hunting for a victory given both's form at the moment. Bournemouth should edge victorious, but I expect an easy "over" in this one.

Exeter City and Leyton Orient share the same record with 15 matches played this season. Exeter might not be the best offensive team at all in the league, but it's capable of scoring goals and this might be an opportunity for it to open up and get on the scoresheet a few times against a poor defensive side. 

That's right, Leyton Orient isn't the greatest at all at defending having allowed 27 goals this season. It's scored 22 though so it's definitely got attacking play of its own. Leyton just gave up four goals to an average Wycombe team last weekend. At home, I expect it to score so this game should finish with plenty of goals.

Even on the road, I believe that this is an excellent spot for a team like Sparta Rotterdam, who's still in great form despite the loss last time out. Prior to losing against AZ Alkmaar (the 3rd ranked team in the league,) it had won three consecutive contests while scoring eight goals and allowing just two. I expect Sparta Rotterdam to hunt for more damage against a side that's won just two matches this season in 11 games. 

Talking about the team that's been having problems this campaign, PEC Zwolle just got humiliated in its last match, allowing eight goals in a single game to the team in dead last in the Eredivisie. I mean that's the worst thing a team can do really. Having said that, Zwolle has allowed the second most goals over any team in the league and is in bad form. I'll definitely take Sparta Rotterdam on the goal spread on Saturday.

Even though the defensive shape of both teams isn't the greatest in the French league, that's what's to be expected given the positions in the table. That being said, FC Nantes has averaged less than a goal per game so far this season (in 11 games) and I don't believe that it's going to be able to score on the road here this afternoon. 

Le Havre has been better than Nantes this season and the defense has actually been a key factor in recent games. It hasn't allowed a goal in three consecutive games, ultimately leading to seven points. That's huge for a team that was near the bottom a couple of weeks ago. 

With the way Le Havre is playing now, and considering that it's at home for this contest, I believe that all signs are pointing towards a low scoring contest. I wouldn't be shocked if this ends up as a draw, either 0-0 or 1-1. But, don't expect either team to score more than a goal on Saturday in this match.

With lots of great matches this week, this one might not be on the top of peoples "watch" list. However, this should be a fantastic game with plenty of action all over the pitch. PSV is 9-1-1 in its Dutch Eredivisie campaign to date and has scored 35 goals in those 11 games. However, its defense hasn't been the greatest, giving up 16, which is almost one and a half per game. 

Looking at its opponents on Tuesday, the Greek side is 7-1-1 in domestic play. Olympiacos is also ruthless in front of goal, averaging more than two per game itself. Lately in the UCL, it's had a very tough time keeping the ball out of its net though, allowing eight of the last two Champions League match weeks. Give me the "over" as my UCL TOTAL OF THE YEAR on Tuesday.

Aston Villa has had an up and down season so far. A win against Manchester City last weekend definitely has Villa feeling good about itself. However it's much easier said than done to win against City & Liverpool in consecutive EPL games. The game prior to that, they lost to Go Ahead Eagles on the road in the Europa League. Now, it heads to Anfield. 

What a disastrous month of October was for Liverpool. Beginning the month in 1st and dropping to 7th in the EPL is definitely not how many people envisaged things would be shaking up as we head into November. That being said, it's a new month and I'm expecting much, much better from the Reds in November. 

Liverpool has the talent to emerge victorious against any club in the world on its day. Hopefully Alisson Becker is back from injury by this weekends match. But, I'm definitely all in on Liverpool to win this match at home against Villa to begin November either way. Hammer LFC on Saturday afternoon.

Coming into this Monday matchup in the La Liga division, both of these sides have the exact same record. Because of the slight better goal difference, Atletico remains in front for the meantime. That being said this is a tough match for the team from Madrid. Atletico just got dominated in the Champions League and conceded four second half goals against Arsenal. It stays on the road and now travels to the South of Spain to Seville to take on Betis who's been in great form. 

Talking about Real Betis, it hasn't lost a match since August. That's now eight consecutive games with at least a draw or a win. Having said that, the home team should be feeling excellent about keeping this one very close and in striking distance of a later winner on Monday. Antony has been great this year alongside Mucho Hernandez and I expect Betis to at least get a draw out of this match this afternoon.

Even though PSG will be travelling far West for this matchup against Brest, I firmly believe that the European Champions are going to bring their A-Game on Saturday. Paris St. Germain completely picked a part Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, putting seven goals past it on the road. PSG will be fuming off consecutive draws inside league play and that win during the week should motivate the squad to do more damage this weekend to attempt to overtake Marseille once again for the top spot. On the other hand, Brest isn't going to go down without a fight. PSG's goaltending has been quite poor since parting ways with Donnarumma and have allowed almost a goal per game this season. Expect this one to go "over" rather easily.

This goal spread number is slightly disrespectful in my eyes. Don't get me wrong, it's tough for any team to win by 2+ goals in any soccer game professionally. However, given what Bayern Munich has done this season, I don't see why it's not at least -3.0 in this contest. Bayern is 7-0-0 in the Bundesliga this season with 27 goals for and only four against. It just beat Club Brugge 4-0 in the UCL and it's past three road games have all been victories by more than two (4-1, 5-1 & 3-0.) 

On the other hand, Monchengladbach is dead last in the Bundesliga with an 0-3-4 record on the season. It lost its most recent game against Union Berlin (1-3) and has allowed the second most goals per game of any team in the league (more than two per game.) Expect Bayern to win convincingly on Saturday, even if some of the better players are on the bench getting a rest.

(#224561) Dinamo Zagreb | GOAL SPREAD | . 

Currently leading the Croatian Football League (HNL) Dinamo Zagreb should be extremely excited for this encounter against Malmo on Thursday. There's only been two games played in Europa League play so far but these teams are already separated by six points in the table of 36 teams. Not only that, but Zagreb is on top and Malmo is dead last (via. goal difference.) 

Coming from Sweden, Malmo's season has been going on throughout the summer. That being said, I believe that the legs of some of the players are starting to get fatigued and that's never a good thing when you're in an international European competition like the UEL. Malmo's currently got an interim manager and I believe that this is the perfect opportunity for Zagreb to extend its lead with yet another win to start the competition.

Currently 6th in the EPL, Tottenham would have probably hoped for slightly better than that through eight games. Having said that, the Spurs have been playing an electric brand of football and that has led to higher scoring games. Three consecutive games have seen 3+ goals as well as five of their last six. Tottenham has a very dangerous attack with the new additions of Kudus & Simons this season. 

On the other hand, Monaco has the tools to make this a dog fight. Also 4-2-2 within its countries league, Monaco is going to do everything that it can to throw whatever it has against the EPL side on Wednesday. It's combined with its opponents for an average of 3.75 goals per game this season in Ligue 1. Expect 3+ goals in Wednesday's UCL encounter.

There's lots on the line this weekend including in this game. San Diego has its spot secured in the final bracket. However, seeding is still up in the air and a win could potentially shoot SD above Vancouver if the Whitecaps were to lose. A point is all Portland needs to avoid the 8-9 matchup playoff.

That being said, I'm expecting tons of fireworks in this game on Saturday. Being played in Portland, there's no question that the Timbers fans will be up and loud for this one. Having said that, San Diego has been the better side all season and boasts an incredible 11-1-4 record on the road this season (much better than the home record.) I expect SD to win this game, but I'll gladly take the goal spread and have a draw if a tie occurs. 

Burns' Prediction: 4-2 San Diego.

It's been a pretty awful start for the side from Scotland this season. As a matter of fact, Aberdeen is 0-1-5 this season (five losses) and hasn't scored a single goal in those six matches inside the Premiership. Now, I don't expect that to continue throughout the season because that would simply be the worst season of all time by any team. But, it's hard not to take that into consideration. 

On the other hand, Shakhtar Donetsk is sitting atop the Ukrainian Premier League through seven games with five wins and no defeats. While it had to battle to stay in a European contest after losing Europa League qualifiers in PK's, Shakhtar is among the favorites to win this whole competition. Considering how bad its opponents been and the goal scoring ability early on in the season so far, I believe that Shakhtar should be able to win on Thursday without much trouble and cover the goal spread.

Goal scoring in bunches has been the common theme for Bayern Munich this season. In the Bundesliga, it's 5-0-0 having scored 22 goals already. That's an average of 4.4 goals per game! In the UCL, it's already had a 3-1 win over Chelsea - I won with the "over." That being said, I'm back with another Bayern "over" in its second Champions League contest of the season. It's seen 4+ goals combined with its opponents in seven consecutive games in all competitions. 

Pafos isn't a very known team, coming from the island and country of Cyprus. Despite not having scored much yet this season, Pafos still leads its countries league and must play aggressively to have a chance in this game on Wednesday. I don't see it coming too close, but I wouldn't be shocked if it found the back of the net once to help the "over" cause. Expect this one to have at least four goals.

Even though Wolverhampton has been competitive and has done well in the Carabao Cup so far, there's no denying the failure that the first five games of the Premier League season have been. With their 0-0-5 record, I don't believe that Wolves will stay winless forever. However, the win, or even draw will have to wait for another weekend because this most definitely isn't the right matchup for them, on the road. 

Tottenham, on the other hand, has been playing great football (european) so far this year. Yes, Spurs faltered a bit in the last home game in the EPL against Bournemouth. However, they've since recovered and have won three of their past four matches in all competitions while drawing one of them. 

Playing at home in London, this is a really difficult spot for winless Wolverhampton. Wolves lost a lot of their top talent from last season and it appears as though they will be fighting just to stay alive in the top flight at the end of the campaign. Give me Spurs on Saturday.

There's no question that Bayern Munich is the best team in German football. But, who's second? Borussia Dortmund has made a case to be that very team having began the season very well. Yet to lose, BVB is in second place in the Bundesliga table and have only given up three goals through its first four contests. 

On the other hand, FSV Mainz 05 has been questionable so far with a 1-1-2 record. Its defense has been strong. However, it lacks goal scoring threat very much as well which lands the question if it's going to be able to score in today's game against one of the best teams in the Bundesliga. I don't think so. This should be a fairly simply victory for Dortmund, even on the road.

During the week, Juventus played in its first Champions League game of the campaign. In what was a goal-less first half, there was most definitely plenty of action in the second half. Juve went down 4-2 at one point and fought all the way back to tie the game in the final minutes of play. You heard that right, eight goals in an epic 90' + minutes. 

That giant comeback is going to fuel Juventus even more for this game on Saturday. Hellas Verona has started the season having not won a match in three so far. It's scored only one goal and that's simply not going to cut it against an opponent like Juventus who's already 3-0-0. Give me Juve.

Napoli won the Serie A in 2024-25 and have high hopes for winning it again after some intriguing changes. It brings in Kevin De Bruyne, from Man City of course, and he will make his long awaited return to the Etihad this afternoon. I don't think that Napoli has the talent up front to be able to keep up with the likes of Erling Haaland on the other side for the English team. 

Coming off the 3-0 win over its rivals Manchester United on Sunday, City look very confident heading into this match against the Italian champions on Thursday. Don't get me wrong, this is going to be a tough test in the first Champions League group stage match. However, I believe that Manchester City will be ready, especially being at home. Give me City.

Gil Vicente wasn't too strong a season ago, losing 16 out of its 34 games and winning only eight. However, times have changed and it's actually a fairly solid opponent for some of the better teams in the Portuguese league now. I believe that its defense is what keeps it in the matches and having allowed two goals in four games so far, that's exactly what I'm talking about. 

Scoring has been an issue for Gil Vicente too though as it's scored four. Braga is going to be expecting a result coming in as the favorite. But, considering the defense of the away side, don't expect it to be so easy to find the back of the net. I expect a low scoring contest on Sunday featuring two goals or less. 

Burns' Prediction: 1-0 Braga.

Despite the loss in it's first road game of the season, AS Monaco is a team that should be in the top four at the end of the season. With guys like Pogba, Fati, Balogun and Golovin etc.. Monaco's got talent all over the pitch. This weekend, it'll take on a team that's in its third season all time in the Ligue 1. 

Auxerre played pretty well last season considering that it had just moved up to this league in the prior season. However, it's most definitely still not at the same level as some of the teams competing for glory in this division. Having said that, I don't expect it to be able to have a chance in this one against Monaco, even at home. 

Over their six meetings against one another since 2012, Auxerre hasn't been able to do anything. As a matter of fact, all six games were wins for Monaco. Give me the favorites on Saturday afternoon.

Even though I believe that Pisa was excellent a season ago, in the Serie B division, I don't believe that it's ready to compete at this level, especially against the better teams in Italy. Don't get me wrong, a draw vs. Atalanta in the opening match week of the year was a phenomenal result. However, it shouldn't get its hopes up for success in this league without a win yet. 

Looking at Roma, it's consistently one of the better teams in the Italian soccer league. With Paulo Dybala back in action this season, there's no doubt in my mind that this attack will be among the league's best. Roma allowed less than a goal per game last season, and looked very confident at the back in the opener vs. Bologna. Expect another shutout victory from Roma on Saturday afternoon.

Despite being the much better side, as it usually is, AC Milan could find itself struggling to score in this match against Lecce. Milan began the season with a shocking defeat against Cremonese in a home game. Now, the pressure will most definitely be on AC Milan to get going in this game. 

Lecce isn't always an easy team to crack when it plays at home though. Despite the low goal scoring rate for it, defense is always the main goal when playing back here to protect home turf. I expect Lecce to limit the goals of AC Milan on Friday, ultimately seeing this match finish below the number. Rafael Leao not expected in the lineup for Milan should also help that cause greatly.

While some of the top flight leagues in European Football (soccer,) began last weekend, the Serie A kicks off this weekend and I absolutely love some of the matchups, especially this one. Parma is coming off a forgettable season, winning only seven games while drawing 15 and losing 16. Now, Parma did find success against Juventus, winning one of the matches while drawing the other. Don't expect that to happen this season. 

Juve is revamped and looking as good as ever for this upcoming season. Notably, it signed Francisco Conceição, who should provide brilliance from the right or left wing this season. Jonathan David also comes in up top, a striker who has been at LOSC Lille and has scored double digit goals in each of the past five seasons. 

At home in the first game of the season, Juventus needs to start this campaign strong. There's lots of talent throughout the Serie A this season and there's no doubt in my mind that Juventus can compete for the league title come the end of the season. This is a must win though to gain the confidence and I expect it to happen without any trouble whatsoever.

After the great opening weekend for both of these teams, I believe that goal scoring will be the main theme in this weekends game. Tottenham definitely look a lot stronger and should be able to fight for a top four spot in the table this season after playing awfully last campaign (within the PL at least.) Scoring those goals at ease last week against a Burley defense that was insane in the Championship last season was quite something. 

We also know that when Manchester City gets going, goals can fly. I had the "over" in its game last weekend and it was all City from the 30' minute onwards. I do believe that both teams will find the back of the net. It's just a matter of how many times for both here in this one. Expect goals galore on Saturday morning.

The DFB-Pokal continues on Monday and I'm expecting an absolute destruction in this matchup. Despite the recent defeat to Juventus, Dortmund has been ruthless in preseason, not worrying about opponent feelings. As a matter of fact, Dortmund beat Sportfreunde Siegen 8-1 in a friendly match a little over two weeks ago now. Having said that, I don't think it should have any problem running up the score on Monday against a team two divisions below it. 

Talking about Rot Weiss Essen, it hasn't played a team this good in a very long time. It's drawn both of its games so far this season and finished 8th in the third division, with 14 defeats, five at home a year ago. I expect fireworks, and mostly, if not all, in favor of Dortmund in this one. 

Burns' Prediction: 5-0 Dortmund.

Before the season, Barcelona plays its annual Joan Glamper Trophy contest (exhibition match) before the start of the season. In this year's edition, the defending Spanish champions dominated Como 5-0. It's now scored 17 goals over its last three friendly/exhibition games before the start of this year's campaign. That's a great sign of what's to come. 

On the other hand, Mallorca has also had a couple of solid performances in preseason, which might give it some confidence for today's match. However, it's also lost to teams like Lyon (4-0,) and drawn Parma (1-1.) 

Don't get me wrong, the first match of the season could give teams the early jitters, not knowing what to expect from teams. However, I'm extremely confident in Barcelona this season and it should get off to a dominant start here, even as heavy road favorites. Don't forget, this team scored 102 goals in 38 league games last year (2.7 goals per game.) Hammer Barcelona on Saturday.

Simply put, the Vancouver Whitecaps keep getting disrespected with these lines. Even though they might not be the most talented squad throughout the entire lineup, this is a team that is capable of doing damage against anyone in the MLS and they've proved it time and time again. I mean, Vancouver is currently the 2nd best team in the Western Conference behind San Diego. 

On the other hand, San Jose isn't even in a playoff spot. Ranked 10th at the moment, the Earthquakes have conceded 11 goals over their past four games. That's almost three per game. With how bad the defense has been playing, I believe that this is a gift for Vancouver, who is coming off a 3-0 win over Sporting KC to finish July off. Even on the road, this is a great spot for Vancouver and therefore, it's my #1 MLS CONF. GAME OF THE YEAR. 

Burns' Prediction: 3-2 Whitecaps.

Even though Sporting Lisbon is the big time favorite today, I believe that the line isn't heavy enough. Yes, winning by a goal is tough, especially on the road. However, this is a great opening game for the defending champions of Portugal and it should prevail without much trouble. Yes, Gyokeres is gone to the EPL. But, Lisbon bring back a lot of players from last years squad and now have youngster Conrad Harder who's looking to take his place. Looking at its opponent, Casa Pia was close to the middle of the table last year finishing in 9th. Goalscoring was a bit of a problem for it as it only managed to score 39 goals in 34 total games inside league play. That's 49 less goals than Sporting scored. Expect a 2+ goal win from Sporting Lisbon this afternoon.

Revenge. That's the word Young Boys have in mind for this weekends game against Winterthur. Last season, it was very poor from the team out of Bern (Switzerland's capital.) Finishing in third place out of 12 in the Swiss Super League, it will definitely want much better this season. During last year, it managed to win, draw and lose against Winterthur. Most recently, losing. That's an embarrassing outcome against the team that finished dead last in the regular season and barely, just barely avoided relegation. That's right, Winterthur was a point away from being tied for last with Grasshoppers & Yverdon, escaping the fall to the second division. It did lose a league high 20 games out of 38 in the end though, which is more than half, as you know. Having said all of this, expect Young Boys to come out with one thing on their mind this year. Revenge for that loss which should have never happened.

Atletico Mg has the name of a very strong club. But, that's Atletico Madrid from Spain. This "Atletico" named squad currently sits in 10th, with a 2-2-4 record on the road this campaign. Don't get me wrong, it's an alright team as well. But, it doesn't have too much goal scoring ability averaging barely over a single goal per match. 

Even though Flamengo will be missing some of its better players for tonight's matchup, I believe that this is the best team in Brazil at this given time. It's got so many Brazilian National Team players a part of it and added Jorginho back in June. There's not doubt in my mind that Flamengo should win this match, it's just a matter of by how much. Hammer the goal spread.

Being the #1 team in the Eastern Conference right now, Philadelphia sure doesn't get much respect. I mean, being underdogs against a team that isn't even in a playoff position in the opposite conference, that's straight up disrespectful. Yes, Houston is probably better than its record, but even at home, this game should be at least a pick'em in my opinion. 

Looking at the Dynamo, they are really struggling right now. As a matter of fact, I just won against them during the week on the Whitecaps (3-0) who were somehow underdogs against them as well. For Philly, it's off consecutive wins. This is an absolute gift. Hammer Philadelphia and get at least a half win if this game finishes in the draw. 

Burns' Prediction: 3-1 Philadelphia.

After Seattle went to the Club World Cup over the past month, it was forced to play a couple more MLS games than it would have liked before going to the tournament. I believe that the event actually helped the Sounders with their attacking play as they are yet to lose since returning from the tourney. 

In recent games for KC, we've seen goals left, right and center. As a matter of fact, six of their past seven matches have seen at least three goals, a lot of the time even more than that. 

Both teams are playing well over their past couple of games, especially in the final third. Seattle has combined with its opponents for 54 goals in 20 games this season (2.7 goals) while KC has combined for 71 goals in 21 games this year with its opponents (3.38 goals.) Expect a high scoring encounter in this one on Saturday evening. 

Burns' Prediction: 3-2 Sporting Kansas City.

Don't get me wrong, Borussia Dortmund has had a very strong tournament so far, yet to lose and beating Monterrey in the Round Of 16 on Tuesday. However, I do believe that this is a real step up in competition for the German side. It didn't have much competition in its group, which helped it look so strong. This will be an extremely tough game for Dortmund against one of the Spanish giants. 

Even though I still believe that Real Madrid is still getting to know its new manager (Xabi Alonso,) this might just be the team with the most talent across all clubs in the world. Madrid has the likes of Mbappe, Vini Jr & Rodrigo up top (might come off bench again) and that alone should be enough to knock off Dortmund here on Saturday. Expect Real Madrid to make this contest look fairly simple in the Quarterfinals. 

Burns' Prediction: 3-1 Madrid.

In two of Fluminense's group stage matches, both teams failed to even score a single goal. Those two matches were against solid opponents two including Borussia Dortmund, who was the other team to get out of the group stage. With its defense playing the way it is, Inter is going to have a hard time finding the back of the net in this one. 

Talking about Inter, it still should be able to score at least a goal in the 90 minutes of regulation. Inter's just so talented and made the finals in the UCL not so long ago now. I expect this to be a very well possessed game by both teams with the final score combining for "under" 2.5 goals on Monday. 

Burns' Prediction: 1-0 Inter Milan.

Coming into this game as the top team in the Western Conference, San Diego is definitely the favorite for this match. Even though it's on the road in this game, its ability to score the ball has been too difficult for most teams to stop this year. I mean it's got 38 goals in 19 games so far on the season. 

Looking at FC Dallas, it's way down in 10th in the West. Allowing 32 goals through 19 games, this is a matchup nightmare for the Toros. I believe that San Diego will be able to do similar things as it did to Vancouver mid week (scoring five goals) and win this game quite comfortably on Saturday evening. 

Burns' Prediction: 3-0 San Diego.

Although both of these two teams have already qualified for the knockout stages of this tournament, there's still a ton on the line here this afternoon in this big time matchup between two of the giants of Europe. Man City has yet to concede a goal and the new additions to the roster look to be great moves by the club. Having Rodri back and getting some minutes off the bench makes this team that much more dangerous as well .

On the other hand Juventus has also looked very strong. However, the Italian side seems to always fall short when it comes to playing against the top competition across all leagues in Europe. The recent performance of Juventus in the UCL has not been too strong. With Real Madrid likely to face the loser of this match in the knockout round, I expect the better side to prevail and avoid the harder matchup in the next round. Give me Manchester City.

While Brazil recently hired a new manager, Carlo Ancelloti (former Real Madrid manager,) I believe that he will be able to pick up his first win of his international coaching career on Tuesday. Brazil has already played a game under the famous manager as it drew Ecuador last week. Now, with a game under its belt, this should be a game that Brazil can take advantage of. 

Why? Brazil is one of the most skilled teams in the entire world and it's currently in fourth in the CONMEBOL standings for World Cup Qualifying. Note that the top six teams make in World Cup this season, and #6 Columbia is only one point behind. That means that every game is crucial with just three remaining in the qualifying. I expect a massive win from the home side today.

Austin FC is a team that has struggled to find the back of the net all season long. Even though it manages to get results, its goal tally is actually the worst out of any team in the entire MLS. That's 30 different teams that we're talking about here. Austin FC won't be scoring too much today either against a formidable defense at home in Colorado. 

Despite making the playoffs last year, Colorado hasn't been at its best this season. Now, there's still plenty of year up to improve it's place in the standings and make it's way into a playoff spot again, but currently it stands below where it was a season ago. Compared to most teams, the Rapids don't score very much as they score about a goal per game. That should help keep this game below the number. Hammer the "under."
