10-20-17 | Yankees +125 v. Astros | Top | 1-7 | Loss | -100 | 22 h 10 m | Show |
New York Yankees at Houston 8:00 ET Yankees over Astros- I don't know if it is a 'mojo' or 'thumbs down' ora around the Yankees and it is something I don't want to play against. I know they have had difficulties hitting Verlander but they didn't make contact at the plate against Keuchel for four years but managed to beat him when the needed it most. Luis Severino can be as dominate as any pitcher in baseball in any ball park. New York has to just force this game in respective bullpens. Take YANKEES! |
10-18-17 | Astros v. Yankees +107 | Top | 0-5 | Win | 107 | 7 h 29 m | Show |
Houston at New York Yankees 5:00 ET Yankees over Astros- The Yankees started both playoff series 0-2 but have managed to go 5-0 at Yankee Stadium to defeat Cleveland and even the series against the Astros. Now, they are up against it as Houston will start 'Yankee Killer' (no not Frank Larry...how many of you know about him and his record against the 1950's championship Yankees team) Dallas Keuchel who has dominated New York and is 4-0 with a 1.69 ERA in five postseason games while striking out 10 Yanks in his Game 1 start. New York will go with their 'hottest' pitcher in Masahiro Tanaka who closed the year by going 5-1 with a 1.29 ERA in his last six starts at home. New York has won 10 of their last 21 at home. Take the YANKEES! |
10-17-17 | Dodgers v. Cubs -107 | Top | 6-1 | Loss | -107 | 10 h 3 m | Show |
L.A.Dodgers at Chicago Cubs 9:00 ET Cubs over Dodgers- The Dodgers who had the best record in baseball have won their last seven and have a 2-0 lead over the World Champion Chicago Cubs. The series turns to the 'Windy City' where the Cubs won 49 times this season including their last three games. Chicago has their backs against it and they will send last years ERA leader Kyle Hendricks (1-0, 3.27 ERA) to the hill and he is 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA in nine post-season starts. Yu Darvish (1-0, 1.80 ERA) has returned to his all-star form allowing only two runs in his last four starts. But, the Cubs need this or for all for the most part their season ends. Take CHICAGO! |
10-14-17 | Yankees +123 v. Astros | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 37 m | Show |
New York Yankees at Houston 4:00 ET Yankees over Astros- Well, the 'Beat goes on' as far as Dallas Keuchel and the Astros are concerned as they took Game 1 of the ALDS 2-1. Keuchel has dominated the Yankees in the past and he hut them down once again recording a career high in strikeouts (10) in seven innings of work without allowing a run. This afternoon Houston will send out Justin Verlander who wen t 7-0 with a 1.48 ERA in seven starts since coming over from the Tigers. New York will counter with Luis Severino who posted a 0.89 ERA over his last six road starts and finished the season 6-1 with a 2.24 ERA away from home. Take the YANKEES! |
10-12-17 | Cubs -106 v. Nationals | Top | 9-8 | Win | 100 | 10 h 43 m | Show |
Chicago at Washington 8:05 ET Cubs over Nationals- Washington once again is playing peek-a-boo with their starting pitcher as the dazed and confused Dusty Baker is trying to ambush the Cubs. Chicago, meanwhile is going with last season's ERA leader Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks started Game 1 for Chicago and he quieted the Nationals bats with a two-hit and six strike-out performance besting Steven Strasburg. He is 2-1 with a 1.98 ERA in eight playoff performances. Baker is 'not sure yet' he will start showing a lack of confidence and doubt no matter who starts. Take CHICAGO! |
10-09-17 | Dodgers -108 v. Diamondbacks | Top | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 24 m | Show |
L.A. Dodgers at Arizona 10:10 ET Dodgers over D'Backs- There is something 'Rotten in Denmark'. Maybe I need a re-evaluate the situation but Arizona will be starting Zack Greinke (17-7, 3.20 ERA) who is one of the most difficult pitchers to hit solid. But, Greinke has struggled of late finishing the season by allowing 14 runs in less then 12 innings including lasting just 3.2 innings against the Rockies his last time out. Greinke is 3-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 10 post season appearances. Yu Darvish (10-12, 3.86) took a while to heat-up for the Dodgers but he finished the season by allowing just one run on his last 19.1 innings. Tonight it is LOS ANGELES! |
10-07-17 | Diamondbacks +132 v. Dodgers | Top | 5-8 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 45 m | Show |
Arizona at L.A. Dodgers 9:00 ET Diamondbacks over Dodgers- This matchup has me sweating from my mouth as Game 2 of this series plays tonight with the Dodgers holding a 1-0 lead. Now, normally I don't like coming back with a team that lost the day before but there are some delightful stats relating to this encounter. Let us begin with the starting pitchers. Arizona will start Robbie Ray (15-5, 2.89 ERA) who won his last six decisions and was 3-0 with a 2.27 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 31 innings against the Dodgers this season. Los Angeles will start Rich Hill (12-8, 3.32) who was 0-3 with a 5.03 ERA against the Diamondbacks. Take ARIZONA! |
10-05-17 | Yankees +130 v. Indians | Top | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 46 m | Show |
New York Yankees at Cleveland 7:30 ET Yankees over Indians- There are two things that I found interesting in this contest. To start with I am surprised that the 'price' of this contest is a bit low for the way Cleveland has dominated the AL the past month including Trevor Bauer (17-9, 4.19 ERA) who is on the mound and is 9-1 in his last 13 starts. The Yankees raised an eyebrow when it was decided Sonny Gray (10-12, 3.55) would start after going 4-7 in 11 starts for New York. Aaron Judge has his 'mojo' back and that aids his teammates who become better at the plate when he hits. Take the YANKEES! |
10-04-17 | Rockies v. Diamondbacks -162 | Top | 8-11 | Win | 100 | 23 h 8 m | Show |
Colorado at Arizona 8:00 ET Diamondbacks over Rockies- Okay, let me start by saying I hate these one-game playoffs but this one gives us 'numbers' and trends that are difficult to ignore. Arizona is back in the playoffs for the first time since 2011 while it was 2009 the last time Colorado make the post season. In head-to-head action this year the D'backs took the season series 11-8 while going 52-29 at Chase Field. Zack Greinke (17-7, 3.20 ERA) take the hill for the Arizona at home where he dominated going 13-1 with a 2.87 ERA and he is 9-5 lifetime against the Rockies. Jin Gray (10-4, 3.67) is 2-2 lifetime against the Diamondbacks with a 4.75 ERA. Finally, Colorado is 1-7 in their last eight playoff games and 2-7 in their last nine against Arizona. D'backs 6-2 at home in last eight. Numbers have it! Take ARIZONA! |
09-25-17 | Cubs v. Cardinals -126 | Top | 10-2 | Loss | -126 | 9 h 15 m | Show |
Chicago at St. Louis 8:15 ET Cardinals over Cubs- Chicago has completed the first part of their goal of qualifying for the post season and now have a 'magic' number of two to win the NL Central. These two clubs have as fierce of rivalry as any teams in baseball and the Cubs have dominated what is usually a tightly contested series winning 11 of 15 meetings. Jon Lester (11-8, 4.56 ERA) will start for the Cubs and is 1-1 with a 3.28 ERA this season and is 4-4 lifetime. St. Louis will start Luke Weaver (7-1, 2.05) who has won his last seven decisions with a 1.61 ERA since his lone loss. Take ST. LOUIS! |
09-22-17 | Rays -106 v. Orioles | Top | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 24 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at Baltimore Rays over Orioles- Both these clubs are having thoughts of getting to the links as the Orioles have now lost 12 of their last 15 games and Tampa Bay has dropped nine of their last 13. Alex Cobb (11-10, 3.63 ERA) gets the start for the Rays and has given up a total of just nine runs in his last six starts but his teammates have failed to give him support as he has gone 2-3 in that span. Cobb is 5-2 lifetime against Baltimore in 11 career starts while the O's starter Ubaldo Jimenez (6-10, 6.57) is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA the three games this season. Take TAMPA BAY! |
09-21-17 | Cubs -128 v. Brewers | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 39 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee 8:10 ET Cubs over Brewers- Two weeks ago the Brewers invaded Wrigley Field for a 3-game series and swept the Cubs and now trail Chicago by just 3.5 games with 11 games remaining. Jake Arrieta (14-9. 3.48 ERA) who has helped the Cubs turn things around is 6-2 with a 1.98 ERA since the All-Star break. He has also had his way against the Brewers going 8-4 with a 2.79 ERA in 14 career starts. Zach Davies (17-9, 3.89) has had a great season to date but he's a heavy underdog at home and I think I know why. Take the CUBS! |
09-20-17 | Royals +108 v. Blue Jays | Top | 15-5 | Win | 108 | 9 h 50 m | Show |
Kansas City at Toronto 7:05 ET Royals over Blue Jays- The Yankees keep beating the Twins but Kansas City can't make up any ground on their Wild Card chances because they are faltering down stretch losing their last three and five of their last six. Tonight the Royals will start hard throwing rookie Jake Junis (7-2, 4.15 ERA) who has not allowed more then three runs in any of his last seven starts posting a 4-0 record and has surrendered just three homers in his last nine starts. Toronto will start Brett Anderson (3-3, 5.73) is coming off his shortest stint as a starter for the Blue Jays after being released by the Cubs. Take KANSAS CITY! |
09-19-17 | Indians v. Angels -105 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -105 | 12 h 41 m | Show |
Cleveland at L.A. Angels 10:10 ET Angels over Indians- Now let me get this straight, the Indians have won 24 of their last 25 games and they come up an underdog here against a team that isn't even in the playoff picture. Cleveland has moved ahead of Houston by 1.5 games for the best record in the American League and home field advantage in the playoffs. Los Angeles still has a shot as the trail Minnesota by 1.5 games for the final Wild Card spot. The Indians clinch their division on Saturday and may feel 'relaxed' entering this contest. Tyler Skaggs (2-5, 4.37 ERA) earned his first win since April 22 against the Astros last Wednesday and has put together a pair of quality starts. Take LOS ANGELES! |
09-18-17 | Red Sox v. Orioles -120 | Top | 10-8 | Loss | -120 | 8 h 18 m | Show |
Boston at Baltimore 7:05 ET Orioles over Red Sox- In April many were picking the Orioles to win the AL East and here they are 4-games under .500 with 12 games left in the season trailing Minnesota by 5.5 for the final Wild Card spot. Baltimore did beat the Yankees Sunday to close their road trip 2-8 while Boston remained 2.5 games in front of New York. Doug Fister (5-8, 4.40 ERA) starts for Boston and he is 4-3 lifetime against the O's. Baltimore will start Dylan Bundy (13-9, 4.03) who is 3-4 lifetime against the Red Sox. Bundy who is making just his second start in two weeks has won five of his last six decision and has had six quality starts in his last seven outings. Take BALTIMORE! |
09-17-17 | Dodgers +135 v. Nationals | Top | 1-7 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 6 m | Show |
L.A. Dodgers at Washington 8:08 ET Dodgers over Nationals- Well, I guess the demise of the Dodgers was short lived as they have bounced back to win their last four games after losing 15 of 16 games. Los Angeles has a seven game lead over Washington for the best record and home field advantage in the NL. Washington will send ace Stephen Strasburg (13-4, 2.64 ERA) to the hill who has gone 34 consecutive innings without allowing a run and is 1-2 with a 2.82 ERA in six starts against Los Angeles. The Dodgers will start Hyun-Jin Ryu (5-7, 3.59) who has had 10-days rest and is 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA in five road starts since the All-Star break. The Nationals are in a bit of a slump scoring just nine runs in their last five games losing four. Take the DODGERS! |
09-16-17 | Pirates v. Reds -110 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 3 m | Show |
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati 4:10 ET Reds over Pirates- The Reds hit four solo homers Friday in their win against Pittsburgh and scored just four runs in their victory. The Pirates are sending what was their best for most of the season to the mound as Ivan Nova (11-13, 4.25 ERA) starts for the Bucs. He is 2-7 with a 6.62 ERA in his 10 starts since the All-Star break including getting blasted for seven runs against Cincinnati three weeks ago. Rookie Sal Romano (4-6, 4.54) has surrendered three runs of fewer in each of his last five outings with his lone loss in that span coming at the hands of Pittsburgh. Today he gets the win. Take CINCINNATI! |
09-15-17 | Pirates v. Reds -105 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 45 m | Show |
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati 7:10 ET Reds over Pirates- With 15 games left in the season these two clubs are thinking more about tee times then baseballs as neither team has much if any chance to make the post season. Both clubs enter this affair stumbling as Pittsburgh has lost seven of their last eight games and the Reds are off a 2-7 road trip. The Pirates will start Chad Kuhl (7-10, 4.21 ERA) and he has been very effective the second half of the season posting a 2.99 ERA. Homer Bailey (4-8, 7.26) starts for Cincinnati and he is winless in his last five starts but earned a win over the Pirates working six innings on August 1 and is 9-6 with a 3.48 ERA lifetime against the Bucs. Take the REDS! |
09-13-17 | Marlins v. Phillies -118 | Top | 1-8 | Win | 100 | 9 h 16 m | Show |
Miami at Philadelphia 7:05 ET Phillies over Marlins- As Giancarlo Stanton pace for home runs declines the wins for the Marlins fall off exponentially. Miami has lost 13 of their last 15 and have fallen out of the Wild Card competition with less then 20 games remaining. Philadelphia has been out of the Wild Card hunt since spring training but will send their best to the hill in Aaron Nola (10-10, 3.71 ERA) who has struggled against the Marlins this season going 0-3 with a 10.67 ERA. Miami will start Dan Straily (9-8, 3.95) who is 3-1 lifetime against the Phillies but the 'Wiz Kids' are hitting .315 against him. Take PHILADELPHIA! |
09-12-17 | Pirates v. Brewers -114 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 51 m | Show |
Pittsburgh at Milwaukee 7:40 ET Brewers over Pirates- The Brewers were completely shut down Monday getting only one hit while losing to the Pirates 7-0 after sweeping the Cubs three straight to fall 4-games back in the NL Wild Card chase. Milwaukee will try and get back into the fray with left-hander Brent Suter (2-2, 3.55 ERA) who has made five appearances against Pittsburgh with an ERA of 1.80. Gerrit Cole (11-9, 3.93) who has an ERA of 3.27 in his last 16 outings will get the start for the Buc's and is 3-3 with a 3.21 ERA in 11 career starts against the Brewers but is just 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA at Miller Park. Take MILWAUKEE! |
09-09-17 | Reds -101 v. Mets | Top | 1-6 | Loss | -101 | 6 h 12 m | Show |
Cincinnati at New York Mets 7:10 ET Reds over Mets- Oh, break up the Mets...their 'future' Jose Reyes is providing the power they need for their Wild Card push and is starting and has pushed his average to .238. My pint is that they are pitiful and come up and underdog at home after winning their last three. Some kid named Flexen (3-4, 7.85 ERA) and he hasn't been so effective giving up 2.04 WHIP and it will be the Reds 'Flexin' with this guy on the hill. Cincinnati will start Homer Bailey (4-7, 7.24) hasn't been that much better but he facing a Triple-A line-up tonight. Take CINCINNATI. |
09-08-17 | Angels v. Mariners -122 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 58 m | Show |
L.A. Angels at Seattle 10:10 ET Mariners over Angels- Seattle who was in the thick of the AL Wild Card hunt two weeks ago went out and acquired veteran right-hander Mike Leake (8-12, 4.14 ERA) who came up big in his first start for his new club limiting Oakland to a pair of singles in seven innings. But, the Mariners have lost three straight and eight of their last 11 to fall 4-games back of Minnesota. Los Angeles is starting Ricky Nolasco (6-12, 5.08) who is unbeaten in his last seven starts but is 2-4 with a 4.36 ERA in nine career starts against Seattle. Tonight it is the MARINERS! |
09-07-17 | Reds -113 v. Mets | Top | 2-7 | Loss | -113 | 9 h 25 m | Show |
Cincinnati at New York Mets 7:10 ET Reds over Mets- Oh, how I love this...Matt Harvey (4-4, 5.97 ERA) who three years ago refused to pitch down the stretch so that he could save his career was going to pitch on three days rest yesterday (after a minor league rehab outing) but manager Collins decided to push him back because of the weather. Granted he is 3-0 with a 2.48 ERA in five career starts against Cincinnati but he has opened an underdog at home and against the Reds no less. Now, consider that Tyler Mahle (0-1, 2.45) is making his first career start and he is favored on the road and the Reds are just 25-43 on the road. Take CINCINNATI! |
09-05-17 | Diamondbacks v. Dodgers -120 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -120 | 12 h 57 m | Show |
Arizona at L.A. Dodgers 10:10 ET Dodgers over Diamondbacks- As my good friend Harry Truman used to say “The buck stops here.” Having hit their first lull of the season the Dodgers who 10 days ago were 55-games over .500 but have lost four straight and 9-of-10. Arizona on the other hand couldn't be any hotter as they have won their last 11 including a 3-game sweep of Los Angels in Arizona last week. The D'backs will start Zack Greinke (16-6, 3.08 ERA) who is seeking his MLB in wins against his former clubs who he is 4-4 with a 4.03 career ERA. The Dodgers will start Hyun-Jin Ryu (5-7, 3.71) who is 3-3 with a 4.02 ERA in nine starts against Arizona. With Paul Goldschmidt the D'backs fall short tonight. Take the DODGERS! |
09-04-17 | Rangers v. Braves -103 | Top | 8-2 | Loss | -103 | 9 h 27 m | Show |
Texas at Atlanta 7:35 ET Braves over Rangers- Texas, believe it or not is still in the AL playoff hunt as they reached the .500 mark and trail Minnesota by just 3-games with just 26 games remaining. Very quietly the Rangers have are 5-1-1 in their past seven series and will be sending Andrew Cashner (8-9, 3.30 ERA) their most effective hurler the second half of the season to the hill. Since July 1 he is 5-2 with a 2.58 ERA allowing two runs or fewer in five of his past six starts. The Braves will start former Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey (9-8, 3.91) who is 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA in nine career appearances against Texas. He has had seven quality starts in seven of his last nine starts and gets the nod today. Take ATLANTA! |

L.A. Angels over Texas 3:05 ET Angels over Rangers- The Angels bailed 'us' out with a come-from-behind victory scoring two runs in the ninth to tie and three in the 10th to win it over the Rangers yesterday. Sunday it won't be so difficult as Los Angeles closes in on the final AL Wild Card spot. Texas will start Martin Perez (10-10, 4.89 ERA) who won his fifth consecutive start on Tuesday but comes up the underdog here. Andrew Heaney (1-0, 5.63) starts for LA and he is coming off his best start of the year allowing just one run in six innings while striking out 10. The Angels are in need and are playing better baseball. Take LOS ANGELES! |
09-02-17 | Angels -115 v. Rangers | Top | 7-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 34 m | Show |
L.A. Angels at Texas 7:15 ET Angels over Rangers- After going 3-1 Friday in MLB with my only loss coming in this matchup I repeat with Los Angeles with a bit of an uneasy feeling. I HATE coming back with a club that I lost with the night before but the Angels just come up as the side tonight. Ricky Nolasco (6-12, 5.09 ERA) is unbeaten in his last six starts after going 0-3 in July. Texas will start A.J. Griffin (6-5, 5.26) who is 4-2 in nine career starts against the Angels but has worked more then five innings just once in his last five starts. Take LOS ANGELES! |
09-01-17 | Angels -107 v. Rangers | Top | 9-10 | Loss | -107 | 9 h 10 m | Show |

Who has won three straight ill start Tyler Skaggs (1-4, 4.25) who is winless in his last six starts and yet he has moved to the favorite in a number of places. Hurricane Harvey has had it's effect on the entire state of Texas and that has created a bit of a distraction for the Rangers. Take LOS ANGELES! |

The Diamondbacks will counter with ace Zacj Greinke (15-6, 3.14) who has struggled against Los Angeles but is 12-1 with a 2.36 ERA at home. Boston at Toronto 7:07 ET Blue Jays over Red Sox- The two top finishers for the AL Cy Young Award last season are facing-off in Toronto tonight and their seasons have not measured up to expectations. Happ (6-10, 4.10) who was second in wins (20-4) last year but has lost 10 of 19 starts in 2017. 08-29-17 | Giants +106 v. Padres | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 20 m | Show |
San Francisco at San Diego 10:10 ET Giants over Padres- You know, every season there are a few pitchers that 'I' considered go-against hurling every time they take the mound and Matt Moore (4-12, 5.38) was one of those pitchers. Now, in one of those rare instances I have to go against my original thought and look to win with him here. Moore has been outstanding his last three starts going 1-0 with an ERA of 2.21 but has no career record against San Diego. The Padres will start Luis Perdomo (6-8, 4.84) who has lost his last two decisions but is 1-0 against the Giants in seven career appearances. Tonight's it is SAN FRANCSICO! |

Boston at Toronto 7:07 ET Blue Jays over Red Sox- Boston is in the mist of their longest losing streak (4-games) of the season as their bats went silent at Fenway against the Orioles this weekend scoring just four runs in their 3-game series. They will try and snap out of their funk by sending Drew Pomeranz (13-4, 3.18 ERA) to the hill who is 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in his last five starts and is 2-1 with a 2.11 ERA lifetime against Toronto. The Blue Jays will start Marcus Stroman (11-6, 3.17) who has an ERA of 2.92 in his past eight starts and is 4-2 lifetime against the Red Sox. Take TORONTO! |

Colorado at Atlanta 7:10 ET Braves over Rockies- Colorado has three rookie pitchers with 10 wins or more and Saturday's starter Kyle Freeland (11-8, 3.71 ERA) has had great support from his teammates out-scoring opponents buy over one-run per game. Sean Newcomb (2-7, 4.13) of the Braves has had just the opposite in ways of support as opponents have out-scored Atlanta by one-run per game in his starts. After a great start on the road 24-10 Colorado has returned to form and has gone 7-24 in their last 31 contests away from the 'Mile High' City. Add that the Rockies are 9-24 in their last 33 meetings in Atlanta. Take the BRAVES! |

08-24-17 | Rockies v. Royals -112 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -112 | 4 h 14 m | Show |
Colorado at Kansas City 2:15 ET Royals over Rockies- In the past the Rockies were known as a club that played well at home with their 'Mile-high' altitude and poorly on the road. Then, this season they started playing well on the road winning 24-of-30 as they averaged 5.2 runs per contest until reality set in and they reverted back to pervious form. Colorado has now lost four in-a-row overall and 23 of their last 29 on the road. The Rockies will start German Marquez (10-5, 4.24 ERA) who has never faced the Royals and is 5-1 in his last eight outings. Rookie Jake Junis (5-2, 4.99) who won his last three starts (interrupted by a relief appearance) get the nod and the win. Take KANSAS CITY! |
08-23-17 | Rockies v. Royals -127 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 56 m | Show |
Colorado at Kansas City 8:15 ET Royals over Rockies- Now this is really unbelievable... Ian Kennedy (4-9, 5.06 ERA) Kansas City starter is winless in 15 straight home starts and is 0-6 with a 5.98 ERA at Kauffman Stadium this season alone. Colorado tonight's opponent for the Royals has lost nine of their last 12 games overall and 22 of their last 28 on the road. Antonio Senzatela (10-4, 4.56) will start for the Rockies and he is 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA in three inter-league starts while Kennedy is 6-7 with a 3.03 ERA in 22 career starts against Colorado. Take KANSAS CITY! |
08-21-17 | Rangers v. Angels -142 | Top | 5-3 | Loss | -142 | 11 h 11 m | Show |
Texas at L.A. Angels 10:07 ET Angels over Rangers- From out of nowhere the L.A. Angels have moved into the Wild Card Playoff spot and have a 2.5 game lead over Texas. That being said it is difficult to comprehend how the Angels are such a heavy favorite while facing the Rangers Cole Hamels (8-1, 3.48 ERA) who is 3-1 with a 2.45 ERA lifetime against Los Angeles. Tyler Skaggs (1-3, 3.63) gets the nod for the Angels and he has struggled against Texas going 2-1 but with an ERA of 5.46 in six career starts. The Rangers will be without power-hitting Joey Gallo (35 homers) while the Angels still have Mike Trout. Take LOS ANGELES! |
08-20-17 | Yankees -104 v. Red Sox | Top | 1-5 | Loss | -104 | 3 h 10 m | Show |
N.Y. Yankees at Boston 1:35 ET Yankees over Red Sox- I don't remember the last time I saw a Yankees/Red Sox encounter on a Sunday that was not the featured game on ESPN. Well, this battle between baseball's fiercest rivals will be starting early in Fenway Park where the first-place Red Sox are 39-22. The Sawx will be starting Cy Young Award holder Rick Porcello (7-14, 4.59 ERA) who has dropped all three starts against New York this season as he has received little offensive support from his teammates. The Yankees will start Sonny Gray (7-7, 3.37) who broke into the win column for the Yanks last time out and has surrendered two runs or fewer in each of his last nine starts. Take NEW YORK! |
08-19-17 | Mariners -106 v. Rays | Top | 7-6 | Win | 100 | 7 h 45 m | Show |
Seattle at Tampa Bay 6:10 ET Mariners over Rays- With three straight wins Seattle has moved 1-game over .500 and is now just one-game behind Minnesota for the final playoff spot in the AL while Tampa Bay has dropped 11 of their last 14 and have fallen 3-games back in the Wild Card hunt. The Mariners will start Ariel Miranda (7-6, 4.75 ERA) who is making his second career start against Tampa Bay and he threw a complete game 4-hit shutout June 4 with nine strikeouts and only one walk. Jake Odorizzi (6-6, 4.30) is 1-2 against Seattle with his last start lasting only 2.1 innings. Take SEATTLE! |
08-18-17 | Diamondbacks -113 v. Twins | Top | 3-10 | Loss | -113 | 10 h 2 m | Show |
Arizona at Minnesota 8:10 ET Diamondbacks over Twins- With about forty games remaining in the regular season Arizona is in position to make the post season with a 4.5-game lead in the NL Wild Card chase and the Twins are just one-game out in the American League. The D'backs will start Zack Godley (5-5, 2.95 ERA) who has been masterful in his last four starts going 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA with no career record against Minnesota. Ervin Santana (12-7, 3.28) will get the nod for the home team who is 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA in four career starts against Arizona. With these kind of numbers it's difficult to see why the Twins are an underdog at home. Take DIAMONDBACKS! |
08-17-17 | Cardinals v. Pirates -135 | Top | 11-7 | Loss | -135 | 9 h 44 m | Show |
St. Louis at Pittsburgh 7:05 ET Pirates over Cardinals- Now, this is one of my 'Don't Make Sense' plays as the 'numbers' just don't add up. Here we have Adam Wainwright (12-5, 4.87 ERA) who has gone two months without a loss (5-0) and is up against a club that has lost four straight and he is an underdog. He is also 13-7 with a 4.11 ERA against Pittsburgh lifetime. The Pirates blew a 4-0 lead yesterday to Milwaukee and will start Jameson Taillon (7-5, 4.50) who will be seeking his third straight quality win. He gets it here. Take PITTSBURGH! |
08-16-17 | Orioles +105 v. Mariners | Top | 6-7 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 5 m | Show |
Baltimore at Seattle 3:40 ET Orioles over Mariners- Well, so much for home field advantage! The Mariners came home las week for a seven game stay at Safeco Field and proceeded to lose their first five as hosts until yesterday's 3-1 win over Baltimore. Today, Seattle will start Marci Gonzalez (0-0, 8.49 ERA) who is starting for the third time as a Mariners as he was acquired form St. Louis July 21. In his two previous starts he failed to finish five innings and has had problems with control. Ubaldo Jimenez (5-7, 6.25 ERA) is a weak 2-3 with a 5.85 ERA in seven starts against the Mariners but is 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA in his last four starts with 32 strikeouts in 24 innings. Take BALTIMORE! |
08-15-17 | Mets v. Yankees -130 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 16 m | Show |
N.Y Mets at N.Y. Yankees 7:05 ET Yankees over Mets- The Mets will start the prize ace in Jacob deGrom (13-5, 3.21 ERA) and he has been dominate since being keep off the All-Star team and is 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees. The Bronx Bombers will start Sonny Gray (6-7, 3.39) who has allowed just two runs or fewer in eight straight starts but with little run support from neither the A's or Yankees has gone 4-4 in those starts with a 1.75 ERA. The 'line' seems a bit high to me considering how effective deGrom has been of late, but Gray is equal to the task. Take the YANKEES! |
08-14-17 | Orioles -114 v. Mariners | Top | 11-3 | Win | 100 | 12 h 44 m | Show |
Baltimore at Seattle 10:10 ET Orioles over Mariners- Seattle came home and entered into a four-game series with the Angels with a two-game lead in the Wild Card race and dropped four straight to drop two-game behind Los Angeles. Baltimore is another club that is in the Wild Card hunt and now trail the Mariners by just a half-game. Add to Seattle's woes is their starting pitching especially tonight when Yovanni Gallardo (5-7, 5.38 ERA) who has failed to complete six innings in five straight starts. The Orioles will start Kevin Gausman (8-8, 5.21) was 3-0 with a 0.65 ERA in a four-start stretch that ended his last time out his first loss since June 21. He bounces back here. Take BALTIMORE! |

Chicago at Arizona 4:10 ET Diamondbacks over Cubs- The Cubs have fallen back into a tie for the lead in the NL Central as they have dropped 7-of-10 while St. Louis has won 8-of-10. Chicago will start Jake Arrieta (11-8, 3.83 ERA) who had a shaky first half of the season but has had five straight quality starts since the All-Star break while Arizona has won the last four starts made by Zack Godley (5-4, 2.94) who has defeated the Cubs 3-0 pitching seven shutout innings while Arrieta is 2-3 lifetime against the D'Backs. Take ARIZONA! |
08-12-17 | Cubs v. Diamondbacks +101 | Top | 2-6 | Win | 101 | 9 h 13 m | Show |
Chicago at Arizona 8:10 ET Diamondbacks over Cubs- Both these clubs the Cubs and D'backs can feel the heat of the Cardinals chasing them both down as St. Luis has won their last seven while Arizona has dropped their last three as Chicago has dropped seven of their last 10. Jon Lester (8-6, 3.97 ERA) is unbeaten in his last five starts and has not lost on the road since May 28 against the Dodgers. Patrick Corbin (8-11, 4.76) gets the starts against the 'Baby Bears' and is 3-1 lifetime against them. Take ARIZONA! |
08-11-17 | Astros -109 v. Rangers | Top | 4-6 | Loss | -109 | 9 h 11 m | Show |
Houston at Texas 8:05 ET Astros over Rangers- 'Deep in the Heart of Texas' there are problems winning baseball games of late as the Astros who are running away with the AL West have lost their last three and seven of nine in August while the Rangers have lost seven of 11. Injuries to Houston's starting rotation has hampered their plight as their ERA has risen from 3.83 in the first half of the season to 5.76 since the break. Charlie Morton (9-4, 3.78 ERA) has had three straight quality starts as he tries to match his career high in wins tonight. Cole Hamels (6-1, 3.59) is 6-3 lifetime against the Astros but the Rangers have lost seven of the last 10 meetings. Take HOUSTON! |
08-10-17 | Dodgers v. Diamondbacks +169 | Top | 8-6 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 5 m | Show |
L.A. Dodgers at Arizona 9:40 ET Diamondbacks over Dodgers- The Dodgers are on one of the more incredible streaks in all of baseball history as they have won 14 of 16 and 45 of their last 53 and now they have added Yu Darvish (7-9, 3.81 ERA) who won his first start for 'Da Bums.' Los Angeles has not lost a series since losing 2-of-3 against Washington in June 7. Arizona has dropped 3-of-4 but owns a 6.5-game lead for the second Wild Card spot in the NL. The D'Backs will start Anthony Banda (1-1, 3.86) who won his first MLB game last time out allowing one run and just three infield singles. Take ARIZONA! |
08-09-17 | Red Sox -119 v. Rays | Top | 8-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 39 m | Show |
Boston at Tampa Bay 7:08 ET Red Sox over Rays- The Red Sox are starting to put a little distance between themselves and the rest of the AL East as they have opened a 4-game lead over New York and are riding a 7-game win streak. Tampa Bay is 6½ game behind Boston and have lost three of their last four getting shutout in all three of those losses. Rick Porcello (5-14, 4.70 ERA) ended a six start winless streak last time out and had his best outing of the season against Tampa Bay on Juky 8 when he allowed one run in eight innings and he is 10-7 lifetime against the Rays. Jake Odorizzi (6-4, 4.47) is off the DL for two weeks and is 3-4 lifetime against the Red Sox he was pounded for seven runs and eight hits last time facing Boston. Take the RED SOX! |
08-08-17 | Cardinals -117 v. Royals | Top | 10-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 16 m | Show |
St. Louis at Kansas City 8:15 ET Cardinals over Royals- Major League baseball is the longest and most grueling of all major sports and the season (6-months of regular season) has plenty of time for twists and turns. The Cardinals who has won their last three games are on a roll right now and have a chance to move about .500 for the first time since June 1. Kansas City on the other hand has won just 3-of-10 and have always struggled against St. Louis at home. The Cards are 33-19 at Kauffman Stadium and will be starting Michael Wacha (8-4, 3.66 ERA) who is 2-1 with a 2.42 ERA lifetime against the Royals. Kansas City will start Jason Varge (13-5, 3.10) who;s season has taken a turn for the worse as he is 1-3 with a 6.85 ERA since the end of June whereas Wacha is 5-1 with a 1.90 ERA in his last seven starts. Take ST. LOUIS! |
08-07-17 | Brewers +101 v. Twins | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 35 m | Show |
Milwaukee at Minnesota 8:10 ET Brewers over Twins- Both Milwaukee and Minnesota are still bringing playoff hopes to the park everyday as the Brewers trail the Cubs by just a ½-game while the Twins are just 3½ behind the Wild Card leading Royals. The Brewers will start Brent Suter (2-2, 3.04 ERA) who after making five straight quality starts was pounded by St. Louis last time out and is facing the Twins for the first time but is 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA in his last six starts. Minnesota's Ervin Santana (12-7, 3.28) is leading the league in complete games with five (didn't Gibson has 29 complete games in 1971) but is 0-2 with a 7.41 ERA in three career starts. |
08-06-17 | Marlins v. Braves -128 | Top | 4-1 | Loss | -128 | 3 h 14 m | Show |
Atlanta at Miami 1:35 ET Braves over Marlins- For two also-rans it is unusual for one club to dominate another the way Atlanta has owned Miami. Not only have the Braves won the first two games of this series and are 7-3 on the season against the Marlins but they are also 18-of-28 in the last 46 meetings. Atlanta will start former #1 draft pick Lucas Sims (0-1, 4.50 ERA) who was called up from Triple-A last week. Jose Urena (9-5, 3.82) has been the bright spot in the Marlins rotation and is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA making two starts against the Braves this season. Once again it is ATLANTA! |
08-05-17 | Cardinals v. Reds -120 | Top | 4-1 | Loss | -120 | 18 h 14 m | Show |
St. Louis at Cincinnati 7:10 ET Reds over Cardinals- This one seems a little 'off' to me as the Cardinals are an underdog to Cincinnati here. Sure the Reds are at home but they are 20-game below .500 and St. Louis is sending this season's best Lance Lynn (9-6, 3.20 ERA) who has gone 3-0 in his last five starts with a 1.15 ERA striking out 19 and allowing just one home run. It looks like the oddsmaker likes Luis Castillo (2-4, 3.56) who has had a WHIP of just 0.92 in his last five starts. Perhaps it's enough...I think it is! Take CINCINNATI! |
08-04-17 | Rangers v. Twins +102 | Top | 4-8 | Win | 102 | 10 h 5 m | Show |
Texas at Minnesota 8:10 ET Twins over Rangers- Both these sub .500 clubs are still in the AL Wildcard hunt trailing Kansas City by 4.5 games for the final playoff spot. Starting pitching will not be the high-lite tonight as both hurlers have struggled this season. Texas will start Martin Perez (5-9, 5.13 ERA) who has dropped three consecutive starts with an ERA of 8.31 and is 0-2, in three career starts against the Twins. Minnesota will start veteran and former Cy Young Award winner Bartolo Colon (2-9, 7.70) who has improved in each of his three starts for the Twins. Colon is 20-9 with a 3.57 ERA against Texas and gets the nod from me tonight. Take MINNESOTA! |
08-02-17 | Mariners +104 v. Rangers | Top | 1-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 57 m | Show |
Seattle at Texas 8:05 ET Mariners over Rangers- As the season moves on the better teams rise to the top and the also-rans fade and it looks like the Rangers are fading fast. They have lost four straight and are six games under .500. Seattle meanwhile has won four straight and will be sending Ariel Miranda (7-4, 4.31 ERA) to the mound and he has gone four consecutive starts without a decision and has faced the Rangers just once going six innings without allowing an earned run. Andrew Cashner (6-8, 3.48) has won three of his last four decision but is 0-1 against Seattle this season and is 0-3 lifetime against them. The Mariners are 8-3 against Texas this season and have won 11 of the last 15 meetings. Take SEATTLE! |
08-01-17 | Rays -103 v. Astros | Top | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 29 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at Houston 8:10 ET Rays over Astros- Everyone seems so surprised that Houston the team with the best record in the American League failed to make a major move before the trade deadline passed as they ended up with Francisco Liriano from Toronto and missed out on the prized starters in Yu Darvish and Sonny Gray. So, the Astros whose GM said that he was disappointed will move on with Mike Fiers (7-5, 3.71 ERA) who is 1-0 with a 3.93 ERA in three career starts against the Rays. Tampa Bay will start Chris Archer (7-6, 3.80) who is 4-2 with a 1.68 ERA in seven career starts against Houston. He has had sic straight quality starts and has gone at least six innings in 13 straight starts. Take TAMPA BAY! |
07-31-17 | Indians v. Red Sox +107 | Top | 2-6 | Win | 107 | 9 h 60 m | Show |
Cleveland at Boston 7:10 ET Red Sox over Indians- I have to laugh at the way the media is projecting this series talking about how the Red Sox want revenge for getting killed by the Indians swept of a series in Cleveland. I'm wonder why they would be so concerned, after all Boston trailed the Indians 3-1 and won the playoff series with three straight wins. The Red Sox will start winless Doug Fister (0-5, 7.46 ERA) who is getting the nod in place of David Price (who doesn't cover 1st base) is 5-4 with a 3.13 ERA lifetime against Cleveland when he was with Detroit. Mike Clevinger (5-3, 3.20) is starting for the Tribe and he was pounded last time up. Only one side for me...Take BOSTON! |
07-30-17 | Cubs -120 v. Brewers | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 3 m | Show |
Chicago at Milwaukee 2:10 ET Cubs over Brewers- Like two ships passing in the night the Cubs and Brewers have been moving in opposite directions since the All-Star break. Chicago has won 12 of 15 since the break while Milwaukee has lost 10 of its last 13 including a 2-1 defeat to the Cubs in 11 innings Saturday. The 'Baby-Bears' have picked up seven games in the standings in that time and now hold 1.5 game lead in the NL Central. Veteran John Lackey (7-9, 4.97 ERA) will get the nod for Chicago and he has picked up the pace of late going 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in July and is 5-3 with a 3.49 ERA in 12 career starts against Milwaukee. The Brewers will start their winningest hurler in Zach Davies (12-4, 4.45) who has benefited with 6.05 runs per start support. With an ERA of 4½ per game the wins won't continue for long. Take CHICAGO! |
07-29-17 | Orioles -115 v. Rangers | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 33 m | Show |
Baltimore at Texas 8:05 ET Orioles over Rangers- This contest has caught my eye because of the the fact that the Orioles who are six games under .500 and have lost five of their last seven come up favored at Texas against a Rangers team that has a better record ever so slightly at 2-games under the breakwater mark. Texas is reaching into their bullpen with starter Auston Bibens-Dirkx (3-0, 4.53 ERA) who hasn't had a start since June 30 and I expect some rust as he has pitched just twice in the past 30 days. Kevin Gausman (7-7, 5.79) has pitched better since being threatened with a trip to the minors and is 2-2 lifetime against the rangers with a 3.68 ERA. The line doesn't fit the situation. Take BALTIMORE! |
07-28-17 | Diamondbacks +112 v. Cardinals | Top | 0-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 4 m | Show |
Arizona at St. Louis 8:15 ET Diamondbacks over Cardinals- This encounter should be an excellent pitching match-up as Arizona's All-Star starter Robbie Ray (9-5, 3.15 ERA) goes up against Michael Wacha (7-4, 3.93) of the Cardinals. If you pay attention to stats and trends it would appear that St, Louis has the advantage as the Cards have won 18 of the last 25 meetings and the D'Backs are 3-7 in their last 10 road games. But, remember statistics never lie but they can be very miss leading. Arizona is averaging over five runs per game and have defeated Wacha in his only decision against them. Ray has a 1.51 ERA on the road this season although he is 0-2 with a 7.88 ERA against St. Louis. Despite these 'stats' I'll take the DIAMONDBACKS! |
07-26-17 | Royals +108 v. Tigers | Top | 16-2 | Win | 108 | 11 h 46 m | Show |
Kansas City at Detroit 7:10 ET Royals over Tigers- After a long mediocre run of 3½ months Kansas City is playing like the Championship teams of the recent past. The Royals have won seven straight and are closing in on first place Cleveland and still are holding on to the second wild card spot in the AL. Detroit meanwhile is ready to pack it in by selling off their assets and have lost five of their last seven. The Royals will start Ian Kennedy (3-6, 4.61 ERA) who started the season with six straight losses and didn't ick-up a win until June 16 but won in Detroit surrendering two runs in seven innings in late June. Anibal Sanchez (2-0, 5.95) has been called out of the bullpen and has no record against the Royals. Take KANSAS CITY! |
07-25-17 | A's -111 v. Blue Jays | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -111 | 19 h 21 m | Show |
Oakland at Toronto 7:07 ET A's over Blue Jays- It might come as a surprise to many people but the A's and Blue Jays have identical records of 44-54. Most understand Oakland being 10-games under the breakwater mark but Toronto was expected to at least make other in the AL East uncomfortable. The Jays are off a wicked road trip losing their last three and seven of their last nine and return home with a youngster going to the mound as Cesar Valdez (0-0, 6.05 ERA) who has worked just 19 innings allowing 23 hits and 13 runs. Oakland will start former ace Sonny Gray (6-4, 3.65) who is beginning to show signs of life coming back from injury and is 3-0 with a 1.96 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in his last three starts. Take the ATHLETICS! |
07-23-17 | Brewers v. Phillies -113 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 4 h 22 m | Show |
Milwaukee at Philadelphia 1:35 ET Phillies over Brewers- The Phillies are looking to win the rubber game of this series and will start Jerad Eickoff (1-7, 4.83 ERA) who has struggled the entire season and is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in 12 career innings against Milwaukee. The Brewers will start Junior Guerra (1-3, 4.77) has had one start against the 'Wiz Kids' and received no decision after allowing three runs in six innings in his only appearance against them. Milwaukee has fallen off of late and now trails the Cubs by one-game in the loss column. They stumble here. Take PHILADELPHIA! |
07-22-17 | A's -109 v. Mets | Top | 5-6 | Loss | -109 | 9 h 28 m | Show |
Oakland a New York Mets 7:10 ET A's over Mets- It was three years ago when I went to see the Mets #1 Draft pick Zack Wheeler (3-7, 4.98 ERA) throw for New York's Triple-A squad in Las Vegas and I was totally underwhelmed by his performance. Now, it is three years later and after surgery I haven't noticed much improvement. Wheeler has dropped five straight decisions and is winless in his last eight starts. His mound opponent Sean Manaea (8-5, 3.68) has lasted seven innings in each of his last three starts nad owns a 2.67 ERA over his last four starts. Add that Wheeler is 1-1 with a 9.39 ERA in two career starts against Oakland. Take the ATHLETICS! |
07-20-17 | Yankees -121 v. Mariners | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 12 h 59 m | Show |
New York Yankees at Seattle 10:10 ET Yankees over Mariners- Since the All-Star break these two clubs have moved in opposite directions as the Mariners have won six of their last seven while New York is going so bad that they are 0-10-2 in their last 12 series and they are 6-14 in their last 20 road games. With this info at out finger tips I find it a bit odd that the Yankees are favored here considering their starter Luis Severino (5-4, 3.40 ERA) is winless in his last six starts. Add that former Cy Young Award winner Felix Hernandez (5-3, 4.20) is hurling for Seattle and he is 10-6 with a 3.13 ERA lifetime against the Yankees. Something is not 'kosher' here. Take NEW YORK! |
07-19-17 | Tigers -106 v. Royals | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -106 | 10 h 35 m | Show |
Detroit at Kansas City 8:15 ET Royals over Tigers- Just when the Tigers bats have come alive and they have won four straight the 'brass' has decided to break up this group and move on to better things. Detroit traded All-Star J.D. Martinez yesterday to Arizona and are looking to unload today's starter Justin Verlander (5-7, 4.66 ERA) who is 0-3 with a 5.87 ERA the past month allowing 1.83 runners per inning. Although he is 23-10 lifetime against Kansas City the former Cy Young and MVP just doesn't cut it anymore. The Royals will start Jason Hammel (4-8, 5.02) and he is looking for his first win in five starts. He gets it here. Take KANSAS CITY! |
07-18-17 | Tigers +102 v. Royals | Top | 9-3 | Win | 102 | 13 h 58 m | Show |
Detroit at Kansas City 8:15 ET Tigers over Royals- Detroit who has been terrible outside the Motor City (17-28) have now won three straight on the road as their bats have come to life since the break. Kansas City meanwhile h is heading in the opposite direction as they have dropped six of their last seven overall. Matthew Boyd (2-5, 5.69 ERA) was racked by the Royals the final day of May and is looking for a small measure of revenge here. Kansas City will give Travis Wood (1-2, 6.06) the nod as he makes just his second start in two years. Take DETROIT! |
07-16-17 | Rays v. Angels +128 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 128 | 6 h 33 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at L.A. Angels 3:37 ET Angels over Rays- The Angels have Mike Trout back and it doesn't seem to have made any difference as Los Angels has lost their two contests since the All-Star break while Tampa Bay has won their last four two since the break and two wins before the break. Chris Archer (7-5, 3.95 ERA) who lost 19 games last season gets the nod for Tampa Bay and he is 5-1 with 2.48 with six career starts against Los Angeles. The Rays have won seven straight in Anaheim out-scoring the Angels 32-15 and yet are an underdog here against LA's rookie starter Parker Bridwell (3-1, 3.24). Today it's LOS ANGELES! |

Arizona at Atlanta 7:35 ET Diamondbacks over Braves- The All-Star break came at the right time for Arizona who still barely holds a two-game lead over Colorado for the top NL Wild Card spot after dropping eight of their last 11. Sluggers Paul Goldschmidt and Jake Lamb will be ready to assault the NL in the second half as both tied with 67 RBI's as the D'backs who are 35-19 against sub .500 teams and play 19 of their next 22 against losing teams. New York Mets at St. Louis 8:15 ET Cardinals over Mets- The Cardinals are still struggling to get to the break-water mark as they are 3-games under level with the All-Star break looming. New York has even more problems as injuries has decimated their starting rotation and position players are falling to the DL left and right. Two of the Mets wounded will return tonight as Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cepedes get into the line-up. The Mets have lost their last three and will start Jacob deGrom (8-3, 3.55 ERA) who has shut down four straight opponents but had his last start rained-out on Wednesday. deGrom has struggled against St. Louis going 1-2 with a 5.82 ERA in three starts. |||||||

Kansas City at Seattle 10:10 ET Mariners over Royals- The Royals are starting to remind people that they were World Series Champions not long ago having won three straight and 10 of their last 13 on the road. American League wins and ERA leader Jason Vargas (12-3, 2.22 ERA) will get the start for the Royals and he has allowed two or fewer runs in six of his last seven start. Seattle has dropped seven of their last nine and have lost six straight at home scoring just 14 runs in that span. So, with those 'numbers; so one sided is Seattle favored? Ariel Miranda (7-4, 3.82) posted his first win in five starts last time out and is 7-2 with a 2.80 ERA in 15 appearances at Safeco Field. That's why! Take SEATTLE! |
07-04-17 | Red Sox v. Rangers -125 | Top | 11-4 | Loss | -125 | 13 h 51 m | Show |
Boston at Texas 8:05 ET Rangers over Red Sox- it may have taken three month of action but the Red Sox are playing their best ball of the season and have won their last five moving ahead of the Yankees into first-place in the AL East. Scoring runs has been the key for Boston as they have scored at least six runs in each of their last five games. Texas, meanwhile will take an counter the Sox attack with Yu Darvish (6-6, 3.11 ERA) who has received just 3.6 runs of support per start. Darvish has been one of the most difficult hurlers to hit against allowing just 79 hits in 107 innings. David Price (3-2, 4.61) starts for Boston and he has struggled in his career against the Rangers going 4-9 lifetime. Take TEXAS! |
07-03-17 | Pirates v. Phillies -110 | Top | 0-4 | Win | 100 | 12 h 6 m | Show |
Pittsburgh at Philadelphia 7:05 ET Phillies over Pirates- These two Pennsylvania teams clash in Philadelphia and neither can be considered a playoff club as both their offense fall short. The Phillies are last (by a far margin) in scoring runs in the 'Bigs' and the Pirates are right behind them and is last in the NL Central scoring runs. Pittsburgh showed signs of life a week ago but have sputtered since getting swept this weekend by the Giants while the Phillies have won three of their last five. The pitching match-up is just about a toss-up as Ivan Nova (8-5, 3.08 ERA) gets the nod for Pittsburgh and Aaron Nola (5-5, 4.13) for Philadelphia. This time it's PHILADLEPHIA! |
07-02-17 | Yankees -103 v. Astros | Top | 1-8 | Loss | -103 | 6 h 16 m | Show |
N.Y.Yankees at Houston 2:10 ET Yankees over Astros- The strength of the Yankees team is supposed to be their bullpen but they have been blowing games in relief with Joe Giardi failure to use Aroldis Chapman properly as at have blown 15 save opportunities. New York will try and go as far as they can with Luis Severino (5-3, 3.15 ERA) who was dominate his last time out striking out 12 White Sox in seven innings allowing one run and has pitched at least six innings in seven straight starts with the lone negative appearance was against the Astros on May 14. Houston will start Mike Fiers (5-3, 3.98) who surrendered two homers to the Yankees in his April start. This time it's the Yankees...take NEW YORK! |
07-01-17 | Nationals v. Cardinals -114 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 13 m | Show |
Cardinals over Nationals- The beat goes on in St. Louis when the Nationals arrive in town as the Cardinals defeated Washington for the 22nd time in their last 29 meetings in St, Louis. The Cards have won five of their last six as they slowly climb back into the NL Central race and will send Michael Wacha (4-3, 4.50 ERA) and he has had success against the Nationals going 2-2 with a stellar 1.57 ERA in four career starts. Gio Gonzalez (7-2, 2.87) who has been outstanding with 14 quality starts in 16 appearances this season. Remember teams win games and the Cardinals have the Nats 'number' when playing in Busch Stadium. Take ST. LOUIS! |
06-30-17 | Nationals v. Cardinals -123 | Top | 1-8 | Win | 100 | 13 h 5 m | Show |
Washington at St. Louis 8:15 ET Cardinals over Nationals- 'If I only had a brain'...Nationals manager Dusty Baker still doesn't has a clue on how to handle pitchers as the Nationals once again blew a ninth inning lead surrendering three runs to the Cubs in yesterday's 5-4 loss. Tonight Washington will start Tanner Roark (6-5, 5.15 ERA) who has a four-start winless streak coming off a loss to the Reds where he surrendered six runs and nine hits in six innings and has allowed 19 runs and 24 hits in his last 13.2 innings of 'work.' St. Louis will start Mike Leake (5-6, 3.12 ERA) who is among the league ERA leaders in winless in his last six starts. Leake has allowed just 87 hits in 98 innings while Roark has allowed 102 hits in 92.2 innings. The Nationals has struggled in St Louis where they have won just seven of their last 28 meetings. The difference between the two starters in dramatic and the Cardinals has a huge edge. Take ST. LOUIS! |
06-29-17 | Braves v. Padres -110 | Top | 0-6 | Win | 100 | 14 h 56 m | Show |
Atlanta at San Diego 9:10 ET Padres over Braves- San Diego is looking for their first back-to-back series victories since early April as they host Atlanta for the rubber match of this three-game series. The Braves will start Jaime Garcia (2-5, 4.03 ERA) who has just one win in his last nine starts and has been horrid in his ast two allowing six runs and seven hits in each of his last two starts. The Padres who have won 16 of the last 21 meetings against the Braves in San Diego will start Dinelson Lamet (2-2, 6.60) who had 12 strikeouts against the Brewers has enough to keep Atlanta bats silent. Take the PADRES! |
06-27-17 | Cardinals -116 v. Diamondbacks | Top | 5-6 | Loss | -116 | 14 h 59 m | Show |
St. Louis at Arizona 9:40 ET Cardinals over Diamondbacks- They say that stats are for losers but the Diamondbacks have some impressive 'numbers' that prove it wrong. Arizona is 15-3 in their last 18 contests and are 14-2 at home in their last 16 while the Cardinals who have won their last two games have dropped 25 of their last 39. With these kind of 'numbers' it is difficult to see how St. Louis is favored here as they are just 15-20 on the road while Arizona is 29-10 at home. The reason most likely is Carlos Martinez (6-6. 2.87 ERA) who has posted 10 quality starts in his last 11 outings and is 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA at Chase Field. That's it for me. Take ST. LOUIS! |
06-26-17 | Rockies v. Giants -132 | Top | 2-9 | Win | 100 | 14 h 37 m | Show |
Colorado at San Francisco 10:10 ET Giants over Rockies- Between these two NL West rivals they have lost their last 10 games as both clubs enter this fray on five-game losing streaks. For the last-place Giants it is as bad as it gets as they carry the worse record in baseball into tonight's game. Colorado will start German Marquez (5-3, 3.92 ERA) has won five of his last six decisions but lost his only career start against the Giants surrendering six runs and 12 hits in 4.1 innings last September. San Francisco will start Jeff Samardzija (2-9, 4.74) who has won just one of his last seven starts despite allowing four runs or less six times in those starts. This time around he gets the win. Take the GIANTS! |
06-25-17 | Tigers v. Padres -101 | Top | 7-5 | Loss | -101 | 9 h 58 m | Show |
Detroit at San Diego 4:40 ET Padres over Tigers- The Tigers are sinking faster than a lead weight as they have dropped eight straight games and 13 of 16 as they sit in the cellar of the AL Central. San Diego has won their last three and will start Clayton Richard (5-7, 4.20 ERA) who is 1-0 with a 2.76 ERA against Detroit in four career games. The Tigers will go with Jordan Zimmermann (5-5, 5.25) who is 3-2 with a 1.69 ERA in four career games against the Padres but will run into trouble here as his teammates are 8-22 against the AL and NL West this season. Take SAN DIEGO! |
06-24-17 | Tigers v. Padres -104 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 14 h 32 m | Show |
Detroit at San Diego 10:10 ET Padres over Tigers- The Tigers have lost seven straight and have dropped to 9-games under .500 and are 14-25 on the road. San Diego has struggled in inter-league play losing 15 of their last 21 played and will be starting rookie Dinelson Lamet (2-2, 7.50 ERA) who is coming off a 12 strikeout performance against the Brewers and has 37 strikeouts in just 24 MLB innings. Detroit will start Anibal Sanchez (0-0, 7.96) who is 0-2 lifetime against the Padres and will fall short here once again. Take SAN DIEGO! |
06-23-17 | Brewers v. Braves -102 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 11 h 54 m | Show |
Milwaukee at Atlanta 7:35 ET Braves over Brewers- The Milwaukee Brewers regained the lead over the Cubs in the NL Central as they have won seven of their last 10 and will send Jimmy Nelson (5-3, 3.28 ERA) to the mound against the Braves. Atlanta who took 3-of-4 from San Francisco this week have also won seven of their last 10 and will start Mike Foltynewicz (4-5, 4.26) who rebounded nicely in his last start after getting shelled by Washington in his previous start. Nelson who lost 16 games last season lost to the Braves in April surrendering five runs and 11 hits in just five innings. Take ATLANTA! |
06-22-17 | Indians -122 v. Orioles | Top | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 11 h 42 m | Show |
Cleveland at Baltimore 7:10 ET Indians over Orioles- It's been good for the Indians the past week or so as they have won seven of their last eight and have moved into first-place in the AL Central a game-and-a half ahead of Minnesota. Hot hitting has been the key as Jose Ramirez has had nine straight multi-fit games along with Encarnacion who has been hot at the plate. Baltimore has dropped 10 of their last 14 allowing at least five runs per game in 18 consecutive games. Cleveland's Mile Clevinger (2-3, 3.89 ERA) gets the nod for the Indians and he has no record against the Orioles while Baltimore's starter Wade Miley (3-4, 4.29) has surrendered six runs in less then six innings in both of his past two starts and has an ERA of 12.66 in his last three starts. It is no wonder the Indians are favored. Take CLEVELAND! |
06-21-17 | Blue Jays -104 v. Rangers | Top | 7-5 | Win | 100 | 12 h 31 m | Show |
Toronto at Texas 8:05 ET Blue Jays over Rangers- Now be it ever how small, the fact that the Blue Jays came up the favorite in this contest had me raise and eyebrow. Here is why, to start with Texas has a better record then Toronto and is at home where they are 21-16 while the Jays are 25-29 on the road. Now, that happens often enough but it didn't stop there. Toronto starter Joe Biagini (1-6, 4.26 ERA) is 0-5 in his last six starts and has already lost to the Rangers, but in that loss he did hold Texas to two runs in six innings. Maybe he has a good game in him. I have TORONTO! |
06-20-17 | Pirates +105 v. Brewers | Top | 7-3 | Win | 105 | 10 h 39 m | Show |
Pittsburgh at Milwaukee 7:40 ET Pirates over Brewers- Milwaukee has surprised the 'experts' as they currently lead the NL Central despite being two-games under .500 at home. Pittsburgh who has won six of their last 10 has defeated the Brewers seven of the last eight meetings and will start Chad Kuhl (1-6, 5.61 ERA) who is 1-0 with a 1.76 ERA in three career starts against Milwaukee. The pitching match-up has me upside down here as Brewers starter Zach Davis (7-3, 4.9) who has won seven of his last eight decisions after starting the season 0-2, while Kuhl is winless in his last 12 starts after a win in his first start of the year. Davis is 1-2 with and ERA of 9.56 in four career starts against the Pirates. Today it is PITTSBURGH! |
06-19-17 | Red Sox -109 v. Royals | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -109 | 9 h 23 m | Show |
Boston at Kansas City 8:15 ET Red Sox over Royals- A pair of clubs that started the season slowly are starting to get into the swing of things as Kansas City has won seven of their last eight and the Red Sox have won seven of their last 10. Boston's current run has them tied with New York for the AL East lead and will start rookie Hector Velazquez (1-1, 6.48 ERA) who is making his second career start. Kansas City will start Jason Hammel (3-6, 5.05) who is 1-3 with a 4.61 ERA in 13 career appearances against the Red Sox. Boston is just better and is beginning to put it together. Take the RED SOX! |
06-18-17 | Red Sox +108 v. Astros | Top | 6-5 | Win | 108 | 10 h 6 m | Show |
Boston at Houston 8:05 ET Red Sox over Astros- Very quietly the Red Sox are creeping up on the first-place Yankees and will send 2012 Cy Young Award winner Davis Price (1-1, 5.09 ERA) against MLB's best in Houston. The Astros despite owning the best record in baseball are in the mist of a 3-7 stretch and will be sending Joe Musgrove (4-5, 4.81) to the hill who has struggled at home. Musgrove is 2-5 with a 5.05 ERA at home and has surrendered 64 hits in 57 innings (not good) while Price who has had limited action his given up just 17 hits in 23 innings (very good). Take BOSTON! |
06-17-17 | Rays -107 v. Tigers | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 30 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at Detroit 4:10 ET Rays over Tigers- The Tigers have pounded the Rays the past two days as Tampa Bay has now dropped their last three. Chris Archer (4-4, 3.80 ERA) has turned it around this season after losing 19 times last year and has held opponents to a .221 batting average on the road. Detroit will start their best in Michael Fulmer (6-4, 3.40) who started the season with 10 straight quality starts but has surrendered five runs in both of his last two starts. Take TAMPA BAY! |
06-16-17 | Diamondbacks v. Phillies -126 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -126 | 9 h 51 m | Show |
Arizona at Philadelphia 7:05 ET Phillies over Diamondbacks- Here come the Diamondbacks, 15-games over .500 and trailing the Rockies by just one-game in the NL West into Philadelphia to play the basement dwelling Phillies who are 18-games out of first place. So, how is it that they are favored? Arizona has won their last four and 7-of-8 and will start Patrick Corbin (5-6, 5.38 ERA) who has allowed 31 earned runs in his last 31 innings while the Phillies will start Aaron Nola (3-4, 4.40) who is 1-0 lifetime against Arizona. Take PHILADELPHIA! |
06-14-17 | Cubs -116 v. Mets | Top | 4-9 | Loss | -116 | 11 h 36 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs at N.Y. Mets 7:10 ET Cubs over Mets- There are a number of reasons I like the Cubs here and one of them is my distaste for the 'Black Knight' Matt Harvey (4-3, 5.02 ERA). Harvey who told the Mets three seasons ago that he would not pitch down the stretch of the pennant race because his agent had him on a 'personal' pitch count. I said then that the Mets should trade him as I don't want a pitcher with no 'heart' or guts on the mound when it counts most. Although, Harvey has 12 starts he has had only four quality starts and the Cubs appear to have busted out of their prolonged slump. Tonight it all CHICAGO. |
06-13-17 | Rockies v. Pirates -116 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 57 m | Show |
Colorado at Pittsburgh 7:05 ET Pirates over Rockies- The first-place Rockies have lost their last two on the road dropping their amazing travel record to 24-12, not bad for a team that traditionally has only played well at home. The last place Pirates have won their last three and will send Gerrit Cole (3-6, 4.83 ERA) to the hill who had put together eight straight quality starts before he hit the skids in his last four starts. Cole has failed to get through five innings in any of his last four starts allowing 23 runs and eight homers in 19+ innings. Pittsburgh has dominated this series winning 16 of the last 21 meetings and will win here once again. Take the PIRATES! |
06-12-17 | Rockies v. Pirates -129 | Top | 2-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
Colorado at Pittsburgh 7:05 ET Pirates over Rockies- Now, when looking at the 'price' of this contest I am a bit surprised that the (28-35) Pirates are favored over the first-place Rockies. Colorado will start rookie sensation Kyle Freeland (7-3, 3.34 ERA) who is 4-0 with a 3.18 ERA in six road starts. Pittsburgh will start Jameson Taillon (2-1, 3.31) who is returning after testicular cancer surgery and he is has held opponents to a .226 career average at home with a 3.14 ERA. Numbers don't lie...Take PITTSBURGH! |
06-11-17 | Royals v. Padres -115 | Top | 8-3 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 3 m | Show |
Kansas City at San Diego 4:40 ET Padres over Royals- A pair of MLB bottom feeders square off in San Diego where the Padres will host Kansas City. The Royals are far removed from their World Series win two season's ago and will start rookie right-hander Jake Junis (1-0, 7.84 ERA) who has struggled not only with his control (10 walks in 10+ innings) but with opposing batters as well as he allowed 1.5 hits per innings and has a WHIP of 2.42. San Diego who has dropped six of their last seven will start a rookie of their own in Dinelson Lamet (2-1, 6.92) who has 19 strike outs in just 13 innings. The Padres are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two and win again here today. Take SAN DIEGO! |
06-10-17 | Marlins -112 v. Pirates | Top | 6-7 | Loss | -112 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
Miami at Pittsburgh 4:05 ET Marlins over Pirates- After a slow start the Marlins are swimming putting it together as they have won 10 of their last 13 averaging 7.1 runs in those wins. Pittsburgh has been struggling all season as their 'window' of playoff opportunity has narrowed in dramatic fashion. The Marlins will start Dan Straily (4-4, 3.59 ERA) who has had six straight quality outings allowing three runs or less with 69 strikeouts in 68 innings. The Pirates will start rookie Trevor Williams (3-3, 4.57) has made one appearance against Miami and was tagged with a loss on April 30 and he will have problems with the Marlins 'hot' line-up. Take MIAMI! |
06-09-17 | Marlins +119 v. Pirates | Top | 12-7 | Win | 119 | 9 h 25 m | Show |
Miami at Pittsburgh 7:05 ET Marlins over Pirates- Very quietly the Marlins have won nine of their last 12 while Pittsburgh has lost three straight and six of their last eight. Tonight, a pair of struggling right-handers will take the mound as Vance Worley (0-2, 6.59 ERA) and he is still looking for his first quality start (four starts) as a Marlin and is facing his former team for the first time. The Pirates will start rookie Tyler Glasnow (2-5, 6.97) and he was pounded for nine runs, 13 hits in his last two starts covering 10 innings. Take MIAMI! |

Boston at N.Y. Yankees 7:05 ET Red Sox at Yankees- The Yankees and Red Sox rivalry is on! For the first time in seven seasons Boston and New York are playing a series where they are 1 and 2 in the AL East. New York currently has a one-game lead in the standings and will send CC Sabathia (6-2, 4.12 ERA) who has won four straight and has regained in pervious form. Nah, not tonight. Boston will send Rick Porcello (3-7, 4.24) another former Cy Young Award winner who has had two straight quality starts but received losses in both contests. This time he gets the win. Take BOSTON! |
06-06-17 | Indians -114 v. Rockies | Top | 3-11 | Loss | -114 | 10 h 23 m | Show |
Cleveland at Colorado 8:40 ET Indians over Rockies- The defending American League Champions have yet to hit their stride as they are just 29-26 after 55 games as they have yet to put it together. Pitching is usually they problem and with Danny Salazar on the disabled list right-hander Mike Clevinger (2-2, 3.10 ERA) will get the start and he has been tough to hit. Clevinger has allowed just 19 hits in 29 innings with 32 strikeouts and is 2-0 with 12+ scoreless innings on the road. The Indians are 17-12 on the road while the Rockies are just 15-13 at home. Take CLEVELAND! |
